Mail.app won't send
Mail.app on 10.4.1 won't send out. All settings are correct. All accounts will receive mail, internet works and AIM works in/out. Any ideas? Comcast is smtp but they don't post any problems. Thanks.

Re: Mail.app won't send
I use Entourage for three accounts.
One cable account, and two Hotmail accounts.
Apple Mail from other blogs will not work with Hotmail.
It is not set up for hotmail.
Your problem:
You did not indicate the mail server but I am assuming it is Comcast.
I use Optonline.net.
To solve the problem, if there is a mail setup help feature in Comcast ask them for help. It may be the smtp protocol.
But I notice Comcast has a help feature for Macs including what appears to be Apple Mail.
http://www.comcast.com/Support/Corp1/FAQ/Faq2_240_0.ht
What I would suggest if after reviewing what you did, and the information Comcast
provides it does not work, ask Comcast for telephone support. Which is what I do with Optonline.
This page http://www.comcast.com/Support/Corp1/FA … _2362.html
tells you how to test your settings.
Now my problem is I can not get the free version of Yahoo.com to work with Entourage or Apple mail. And my Hotmail accounts will not work due to Apple not setting up the Account to work with hotmail. Maybe someone should tell Apple that MSN Hotmail is free, and originally was not a creation of Bill Gates.

Re: Mail.app won't send
Thanks, I finally got it going by making a copy of ~/Library/Mail/ for insurance and then trashing ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
I restarted my Mac, opened Mail.app and a snazzy Tigeresque assistant first led me through setting up my IMAP mac.com account with aliases and then my POP Comcast accounts which handles all the outgoing smtp.
