Hey guys, I was wonderin: 1st of all, can Macs even play runescape ? And would an Ibook 12 incher 1.2 Ghz 768 Ram be able to play that game on High Detail ? And how would you right click ? Thanks.

I read this as "run escape" until I googled it.

and the answer is YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's Java, so it runs on anything.

But Please... Please don't get addicted to that damn game... I have watched completley rational people become insane from that (not very good) MMORPG.

So much so that he has convinced himslef that he can spend the summer in his room, mining gold or something, then selling it for real money on eBay. I think he might be a monster when I get back from my summer job.

Well.. Here it is:

I went to the Apple store on Saturday. Rite.
I walk in, I walk over to the ibooks and start up Safari.
I get ito runescape, click high settings start it up, log in and it begins.
It was pretty laggy when you moved around, I went into low settings and it was the exact same lag. Not even less.
I go over to the powerbooks, and I get the same thing.

Is it possible that the Apple stores have really bad internet connections ?

From what I've heard, almost all Apple stores have a T1 connection. So... it might have a little bit of a lag if there were a lot of people online...

From what I've heard, almost all Apple stores have a T1 connection. So... it might have a little bit of a lag if there were a lot of people online...

umm... the average Cable or DSL lines are faster than T1 lines. just incase you thought a T1 was fast or something

T1 is dedicated, so it's the set speed, all the time, unlike cable and DSL, which can fluctuate a bit from time to time

I used to play Runescape (back when there was 5 servers), and am glad I didn't play much more. I can sum the gameplay up pretty easily:

Click

Click

Click

et cetera...

Mind you, you might find it fun for awhile. But just remember, as you level up, you'll still be clicking.

By the way, you can right click by buying a 2 button mouse.

or you can set the game to "1 button mode" and every click acts as a right click.

In my first year at Durham College, I bought a Logitech Optical Mouse (corded) for about $9.99 CDN. Mac-OS X-friendly, worked quite well for Runescape's right-click functions (and all the lovely Right-clicking in other progs., too). It pays to have a 2-button mouse. Now I'm using a cordless mouse. big_smile It also works well with a tablet, though I suggest reserving that (and the battery, in my case) for... you know... decent stuff like Photoshop or Illustrator.

RS runs just fine for me on a DSL connection at home through an Ethernet cable, and at school through an Ethernet cable (on Safari, as I loathe Firefox). The only time I have lag problems is on the Free servers during peak times. I try not to play on US servers, as they make it even worse. Amsterdam, Toronto, and London servers work well for me -- your mileage may vary.

Awhile ago, it was that about 1/3 of the world was the 'free' area, the original map. Subscribers also got access to new items, skills, etc.

I know a few people who play RuneScape, they seem to spend most of their time chopping down trees.

I know a guy that plays that, he is like level 99 or somthing and he is in a clan and well he a loser to the max, and he also wastes his money on super hi-end PEE CEE's. Even after I explain the amazing operating system and the other advatages to the macintosh.

WTF ?? Who buys a Voo Doo lappy and plays Runescape, what a geek. But he also gets the highest marks in our class and his parents buy him all this smurf, including a brand new suzuki motorcycle.
