You're not doing yourself any favors here.I'm not surrendering that debate.
The cremation AND the autopsy are directly the result of the choice HE made - a choice he made as a final smurf you to the parents.
He had no reason to care one way or the other how she was burried - but he chose the way that would be offensive to her parents. Don't be so blind.
Because you say so? Michael told me he was creamating her because he was needing some nice ash for his compost.

He told me he was going to use them to test out the flushing capabilities of a new toilet he was buying (I ran in to old Mikey in Lowes Hardware Store).

Placing ash around the base of your tomato plants keeps slugs away. And that's a good thing.

What kind of a response is that?
It's sick and twisted - and FYI not what is being done with the ashes - they are in a cemetary in Florida. Or at least will be soon.
The question remains - other than the FU to the parents, why would he choose cremation over a standard burial? He has no reason to - and given that her parents didn't want cremation, that choice is a clear FU.
Don't try to avoid the point by making humor of it - this is a very tragic case.

Why does ANYONE choose cremation for themselves or for a spouse or family member?
I want to be cremated. I think the idea of being buried in the ground in a box is ridiculous.
Her parents did not have a say in the matter...and given their history, I really can't blame him for thinking that he shouldn't bend to their desires.

Their history, like it or not, includes giving birth to her and raising her to adulthood.
I also want to be cremated - with a small funeral.
But if I had a wife and she died, and her parents didn't want her cremated - I wouldn't cremate her. It would be rediculous to.
Michael has clearly moved on - he has another family now. He did this to make it harder for her parents to move on - and even if he was completely in the right and there was nothing left of her to recover, and he really did try everything he could - cremating her is still an smurf thing to do.

His spouse was dead.
But lets say you are right and she has been dead for years, the point still remains that he moved on - and cremation is something that makes it difficult for her parents to do so, parents who clearly haven't moved on.

It might the case - I've never felt a really strong urge to get married, not since the fourth grade anyway.

It was tongue-in-cheek, but mostly based on a comment you made in another thread concerning a medically-necessary abortion for your wife.
But THAT is a completely different discussion!

Re: Jeb Bush attacks Michael Schiavo
Maybe it is just me, but I've seen nothing that makes me think the Schindlers want to move on. Nor do I see any reason why whether a corpse is cremated or buried would determine whether people can move on or not.
I also can't help but wonder what life was really like in the Schindler family. In high school, Terri Schindler was 5'3" and weighed 250 lbs. Her father has had chronic business problems, including bankruptcies. He is also reported to have a foul temper. The mother seems not to grasp things well. With all due respect to the portrait of Ozzy and Harriet Schindler painted by Resedit and other Right to Lifers, I suspect there is more to the story.

Believe it or not - there are plenty of hawt women who feel the same way about abortion that I do.
You generally find then in buildings where people congregate on Sabbath or Sunday (usually Sunday in our culture).

Re: Jeb Bush attacks Michael Schiavo
The idea with the cremation may be:
1) her wishes
2) his wishes
3) a move to deny those who politisised this matter a shrine from which to continue to launch attacks against him.

I don't believe that a life should be sacrificed to save another, and that's what abortion for medical reason is doing - and yes, there are times when either doctors have been wrong, or miracles have taken place (I'll let you pick), and both mother and child have survived what supposedly would have resulted in both dying.

Yes, the concept of an eternal afterlife in heaven speaks nothing to a fear of death.

While we live, we live to do his will. We don't always do a good job of it, but ...
When we die - we go to be with the Father. That is something we look forward to.
I don't look forward to the experience of dying, pain isn't fun - but I do know that it is going to happen regardless (unless messiah comes back first) - and I know that what is on the other side is better than what is here. We aren't of this world, only in it.
