Re: Flag burning question
Get a flame proof american flag. Then douse it in gas, and burn the gas. Because the flag is not burning, it is not illegal. The symbolism is the same.

Not true.
I could logically draw the conclusion that it was a purification rite, or symbolizing the eternity of an indestructible sovreign.
Fighting or arguing for a work around of a law or amendment limiting natural rights cant make the issue plain, such issues can only really be addressed head on.

Yeah, no joke. Same with swear words and other obsenities- people shouldn't use cuss words, there are a million other ways to express yourself. You shouldn't talk about sex- we can talk about human relationships in better ways. No need for dissenting opinions- who does it hurt to keep it to yourself?
A nasty and slippery slope. Davic3 was right on- what the symbol stands for- or is supposed to stand for, or used to stand for- is freedom. Isn't that way more important than the symbol itself? Without freedom, the USA flag is the most empty, worthless and hypocritical symbol in the history of the world.

Re: Flag burning question
During the protests of the Viet Nam war, there were lots and lots of flags burned, along with bras, draft cards, effigies, etc. The baby boomers were, literally, 'hot heads.' Today, many of them are Neocons. Does the term 'flip-flopper' come to mind?

I doubt the numbskulls who support this amendment would be able to make the distinction.
