Nominees for Oscars

Okay, i've not seen a ton of films this year, but I'm gonna list a few I have seen. Just pick the best from this list. Then comment on any other options.

Re: Nominees for Oscars

Not a fan of much of anything Tom Cruise does, except Top Gun.  I never saw Road to Perdition bec it just didnt look like anything I gave a rat's ass bout. I never saw Lord of the rings2 yet but I know its badass bec I have been told by everyone so far that its total boner material. (longstory but it means its good)...

I dont know what else got nominated...but I hope that something that isnt Chicago wins. It was nice to see it win something at the Globes but I really didnt think it was that wonderful...nice yes but not worth any awards.

I really wanted Adam Sandler to win for Punch DRunk love. I loved that movie and sandler rules.

Re: Nominees for Oscars

The Oscars have been bought so that means no SciFi/Fantasy.

That leaves us with Road to Perdition.

Re: Nominees for Oscars

Well Two Towers is obviously gonna win something, and I think screenplay is most likely. I really can't see how a computer generated character could win best supporting actor. It really doesn't make any sense to me.

Re: Nominees for Oscars

The Two Towers will clean up in the technical catagory and be shut out in the major ones, in my opinion...

I think That Danny-Day Lewis is a Shoe in for Best Actor...

I Hope Gangs gets some awards, I really love the movie, and would be proud to have worked on it even MORE if they recognize it with awards, but I really think that Scorsese deserves the Best Director Awards...

Chicago?  I hope it fails miserably...  Love the Broadway version, the movie just rubs me wrong, so I say this in NO OBJECTIVE WAY... smile

Re: Nominees for Oscars

There needs to be some kind of recognition for Gollum, as he is the first CGI character to be a real character and an integral part of the story, unlike that smurf Jar Jar Binks.

If Day-Lewis doesn't win there is no God. It was one of the best performances I've ever seen. I haven't seen Catch Me If You Can, but based on Gangs, DeCaprio doesn't deserve an acting Oscar. I liked him in the movie, but he really didn't have to do much but walk around looking pissed off.

Hope Gangs gets some awards, I really love the movie, and would be proud to have worked on it even MORE if they recognize it with awards, but I really think that Scorsese deserves the Best Director Awards...

He definitely deserves it, but I doubt he'll get it. I think a lot of critics just didn't get Gangs. I thought it was the best movie I've seen in a long, long time.

Road to Perdition won't win a "major" award, but it's a definite contender for best cinematography, which is a vastly underrated catefory by most of the public. I liked it a lot, but it wasn't a great film. Damn, it sure was pretty though.

You and me are going to get along just fine...  Id on't think there is a sentace in that post I didn't agree with.

Sadly I have my doubts about Scorsese winning the prize too, but we can hope...

Re: Nominees for Oscars

As silly as this sounds, I'm gonna say it anyway:

I think Matthew Lillard deserves some kind of recognition for his portrayal of Shaggy in "Scooby Doo".

Yes, the movie sucked, and so did just about everything else about the the movie...but something about Lillard's performance captured the essence of Shaggy just perfectly.

I know the NARAS would never nominate such a silly role for such a silly film, but I gotta give "props" to the guy.

Re: Nominees for Oscars

I think that the animators who created Golum should win an award and that Golum himself should win the schizophrenic of the year award.

Does Pixar ring a bell?  smile
I hope that Final Fantasy doesn't count, too.
