Re: Xbox 360 and OS X Tiger
I remember reading an article about the PS3 and that its optional (? might change) hard drive would come with linux and you might be able to install OSX/windowze on it *looks for article*
Edit:
Found it
http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/06/09 … 27219.html
Edit #2: Hrmmm, the article I remember reading a month ago was about 3 times longer....

Re: Xbox 360 and OS X Tiger
well, my post was made at home, so..
can do!
i was referring to the original topic of this thread, which was pretty naive if i might add.
yes, the linux on the PS3 would be nice.
OSX on XB360 is absurd.

Re: Xbox 360 and OS X Tiger
Xenon and Cell are in-order processors, so the OS code as it is would run like smurf on them. Or at least nowhere as near as fast a 3.2 Ghz G5. Oh, and the 360 has 10 MB of EDRAM, not VRAM. The 512 MB of shared RAM is actually directly on the GPU, so if anything, it's the CPU dipping into the GPU's RAM, not the other way around.

Re: Xbox 360 and OS X Tiger
yes.
albeit, this 10MB can talk to the GPU at 3TB/s, it's still 10MB.... and EDRAM
i don't really like the idea of having 512MB of shared memory

Ok, I was reviewing the statistics on the Xbox 360, which I have done many times, but this time something occured to me. We all know that Xbox 360 uses Power PC proccesors. Since OS X Tiger runs on the PowerPC now, does that mean that the Xbox 360 could potentially me modded to run Tiger. Think about it! Considering the 360 uses three 3.2Ghz Power Pc processors, has 512 ram, a custom built grahpics card, and a 40GB harddrive, the thing with Tiger on it would be amazing. If the 360 can be modded to run Tiger.... I would do it in a second. The Xbox 360 is astimated to be around$500, which is a great price for computer that powerful.
So do you think it could be done?
Put those Tiger disks in that 360 yet?
Now that 360 is out ... maybe something will happen other than guessing

Hehe. I created a monster! It lives! Time to get out the shotgun. Really, the question was hypothetical and asked before I even had a Mac or knew anything about how Tiger worked.

Re: Xbox 360 and OS X Tiger
LOL.. you guys are funny...
Well, the guy had something on his mind that was bothering him and so he made a topic.
What's so wrong about that?
It's not like its on a topic about a banner thats on top of the website.
Obviously, the people that want this topic to be closed have no life because they keep replying. (still, nothing wrong with that.)
And its not a stupid topic, just not a very useful one. This topic is the same as putting Windows on the MacBook or Intel iMac. The only difference is that having a dual-boot computer is much more useful.
(As Steve would say)"...and one more thing,"
why do people say "Go Home!?" Where else am I supposed to use my computer?
