Not everyone wants their full name advertised. Especially since i've seen at least in one case where one forum goer did a search on another user and has held that info over their head, or so i heard.

No, I'm fine now.

See? JONATHON WARDEN.
That was a previous fear post username change, but the reality is that it did help some people that were looking for me via google to find me. So there you have it.

Yup, and it was me that it happened to. I was the one researched. And the people who did it are still here too...

There's a simple solution to that.
DON'T PUT IT IN YOUR smurfing PROFILE.

Meh, Ive made more than a few online enemies who because of my business had no problem finding out where I lived.

Re: The excitment of today
I've had the reverse happen to me... someone searching my full name found me here and learned a little too much about me than I'm comfortable with, before we even met!! A class roster at school got loose and the guy searched out a few random people. First day of class he came up to me at the end and started talking about something I had posted here, he even called me sevenofeleven... it was really, really weird...
"...by an expert?"

Well, no, you see, it's funny when you say what you said in Assassin's thread because you're Admin and can eliminate his security problems on here by eliminating his account.
I have no such power. The most I can do is summon my minions and push the big red button on my people shredder.
Sigh.

It's amazing what you can find when you do a search by username on google.

It is kinda creepy. I google myself every now and then to find out just what there is. I also use a totally different name if I'm going to do anything that might reflect badly on my actual identity.
