Mail problems in Panther
I am having mail issues. Nothing devastating, but it is getting past the point of merely annoying. About a month (or two) ago my mail app decided to "rebuild table of contents" and has been stuck at 84% ever since. Now if I want to shut down or restart my system I have to force quit the mail app. What's worse is that it does not allow me to delete messages on the first try. I often have to delete them 3 or more times. I have tried everything I can think of to try and fix the problem. I ran my anti-virus software and it is coming up with nothing. I even started up with my installer disk and ran the disk utility. Any idea how I can fix this?

Re: Mail problems in Panther
When I installed Tiger my mail app kept getting stuck at 34% whilst rebuilding. I repeatedly force quit the app and then tried again, over and over. Finally, the only thing that worked was pulling my old mbox folders (user/mail/mailboxes) out onto my desktop, letting mail start anew.
(edit: for usual crap spelling)

Re: Mail problems in Panther
I deleted my "deleted messages" index from the "mailboxes" folder and restarted. Everything is working fine now. Thankfully, I didn't have to totally start over. Thanks for the help.
