Re: Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince *Spoiler! Spoilers!*
I read the first Harry Potter book, and I definitely enjoyed it, but I never understood the mania surrounding the whole thing. But there's nothing like sitting down with a good book. Bon apetite!

Re: Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince *Spoiler! Spoilers!*
652 pages at 12 point font like the first four. Book 5 was 11.5 font in addition to being nearly 900 pages. Picked my copy up last night at midnight, had it finished by 7:15 this morning. It might be the best in the series, although the last 50 or 100 pages were by far the darkest seen thus far.

Please do. I'd prefer some Cliff's Notes.
Spirit was crushed; now is fading, But I want to help make things right.
Because I can see and I can feel, and you can see and you can feel
So why don't we both either stand up and fight
Or at least together we'll call it a night.

Man, I never saw what's so damn good about these books. I tried reading a couple, I really did...
Give me the Hitchhiker's Trilogy, though...

I just got a call from my wife. She bought me a copy today. I'll start reading it tonight.

This will teach me to pre order. I called 3 different stores, and everyone is out. I finally found one that has some, but they won't hold a copy for me. I hope it's still there when i get there.

I just finished the book. I nearly cried. Wow.
And, does it seem to anyone else Rowling has become a better writer as of late? I never thought she was particularly skilled, but some of the Half-Blood Prince was very well worded and crafted.

Her writing or perhaps the editing, gets better with each volume. Yeah, I'm waiting for my copy to arrive today also. If it doesn't arrive today, the deal is that Amazon gives me the book for free.

I can only wish, I don't have that option.
I know mine will not arrive today since they shipped it UPS instead of USPS.

Re: Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince *Spoiler! Spoilers!*
We had a WHOLE LOT of copies at Best Buy where I am. No one was really buying it (i personally didn't know there was a new book coming out).
I had to read the first book for a class, and I didn't really get in to it then. I like the movies though.

Ok, finished.
SpoilersSpoilersSpoilersSpoilersSpoilersSpoilersSpoilers
Don't read past here, or else don't say you weren't warned.
Damn.
Harry has matured. A lot.
I've been predicting that the person who died would die since the moment I finished the last one (not naming him in case someone reads this sentence and decides "woah, that's more than I want to know yet - this is your last chance to back out.).
It's obvious - "The only one who Voldemort ever feared." Well, the books aren't called "Dumbledore and such and such," the one big protector figure who always makes everything OK for Harry is going to HAVE to be taken out of the picture for Harry to come into his own. Not only that, but he needs something HUGE to steel him for the final push. Yup. It screamed that it needed to be done. (Though I thought that Fawkes might have transfered his loyalty to Harry...)
I've always been with Harry in the not-trusting-Snape thing. Didn't figure he'd play THAT big a part, but then, no DADA teacher ever lasts more than a year.
Harry may feel a little pity for Draco, but I'm looking forward to finding out how Voldemort deals with him.
Anyone know when the next one comes out?

He's making that up. A tiny bit of real info from the book mingled with speculation on the next book.
