I feel dumb, but where is the PW for Egg 00? Or is that a red herring? Ditto for that door in the graveyard that's just a BIT too high to reach....

The door in the graveyard can only be reached if you have a machine gun on level 3 (afaik). You don't need the password yet. Get to the sand zone, defeat Omega (much easier than Balrog Frog Thing) etc. first.

Shouldn't this be moved to games by now?

Why, is it hurting you?
If things are in any forum but this one, they tend to get ignored, so it's fine right here.

It isn't hurting me at all. The announcement of something new should go here. Now it has evolved into "game pointers."

Go to the generator room where you'll fight that TV guy and talk to the robot after. You'll get filled in on the bomb situation.
Oh yeah, I beat the game. 5 tries on the last boss, it's REALLY hard!

This is my problem in a nutshell, right down to being stuck on how to beat this robot boss--the giant green machine with bulldozer treads above and below.
I've fought it five times, using all my available weapons (at level three) and I've yet to do ANY damage to it. What's the secret to hitting it?

Took me 3 final runs (forgot I lost against Misery). Sweet battle.
All I can say is: QUALITY. That game was amazing. There are still two characters I don't know what to do with, though.

There are four floating things in the middle of it. You have to destroy those first to get to the core. When it stops, head inbetween its treads and fire straight up.

Any tips for defeating the Rage-full Mimiga? I' just can't get out the way enough of the time, and take out the flowers and take out Toroko or whatever the damn thing's name is.

I just realized that, in my fourth "research encounter"
And the Rage Miniga... yep, she throws cubes at you and they transform in to yellow flowers.
I'm not sure... I kill her using the machine gun... And jumping a LOT. She wasn't so hard.

Re: Doukutsu Monogatari - CAVE STORY now available for the MAC!!
I hate to complain, because I love this game when I run it on my computer, but I find it runs like molasses on old 300 Mhz iMacs and iBooks--the long message at the beginning feeds out at a rate of one letter per second. Simply unplayable.
This is a shame, since it's such a great game for kids and my kids use my old computers.
Why does it run so slowly? It certainly doesn't have complex graphics. And, at the beginning, text should be able to appear far faster than a letter every second. Plenty of similar games run just fine on these computers. Was Doukusu Monogatari optimized (i.e. slowed down) for the latest 1.5 GhZ Powerbook?
Ideas?

I hate to askt the obvious question... but are you holding down 'z' to make the text scroll faster?

Re: Doukutsu Monogatari - CAVE STORY now available for the MAC!!
I killed the rage mimiga using fireballs. And jumping a lot.
That tanks is a BEAR to kill. According to one of the walkthroughs, a L3 sword is the best weapon against it, although another said that L3 bubbles worked. Still, I think that my real problem is that my hand/eye coordination tends to suck, and sometimes I get lost on the screen & then see I just got run over by the tank.

I'm trying to have my sister play the game on the other account but it won't work, so now I'll redownload the game, and install it in my sister's home folder, maybe that'll work.

If you want two people to be able to play without saving over one another's ongoing games, dig out the game's preference file (users/library/prefs etc.), placing somewhere else for safekeeping. Then, when player two starts the game, the game starts up as if no one else had ever played it.
When player one wants to play again, swap the old pref file back, being careful move the new one to another place for safekeeping.
I've simplified this a bit by running a Spotlight search for "douk", then saving the search to the sidebar. This makes it easy to find all the various pref files I've saved in various places.

Yes. No perceptible difference. I suspect that the game's coders have set the speed artificially to make text appear at a certain pace. With "z" held down, that speed is set to slightly faster.
But somehow the routine being used to set the speed is calibrated for a fast, modern processor. So regular text flow becomes excruciatingly slow and sped-up text flow becomes just a bit faster.
If I'm right that this is the result of coding, it strikes me as correctible.
On the other hand, if the slow speed is the result of some sort of processor emulation (the game WAS designed for another program, right?) then I guess there's no way to make the game work on old machines, short of wholesale revision.

I feel like an idiot.
I've been everywhere and I can't figure out how to get into the gum room. I need the gum to get the bomb to blow the rusted door open, right?
Can anybody help a brother out?

Have you talked to the guy in the locked room since finding out about the gum? He should give you the key to the room.

You'll find that talking to people over & over sometimes helps.
