Will Any Of M-Audio Interfaces Work With GarageBand/Logic?
Hello All,
I am interested in getting the M-Audio Firewire One and i wanted to find out if it is compatible with Garage Band and Logic Express. Also, would it be compatible with Digital Performer or any of the other recording sequencers on the market? Thank you in advance for your help.
Best, J

I have the MobilePre and it works great with GB. Though since upgrading to Tiger, I have had some strange issues, so I am just waiting for a driver update.

Re: Will Any Of M-Audio Interfaces Work With GarageBand/Logic?
thank you all so much! I had another quick question about using a usb audio device. When i plug my guitar directly into my powerbooks audio-in, using garage band and record a track and then record another track while listening back to the first, there is no noticeable lag, it feels like i'm just playing along with another guitar player in real time. Using a usb audio interface, such as the m-audio models, would i experience any lag issues? Like would i be able to monitor what i'm playing along with the first track without any noticeable lag? Does this make any sense? Please let me know if i can clarify in any way. Thanks!! J

I don't seem to be able to find a Firewire one, but we have been using the Firewire 410 for quite a while with Garage Band, recording tracks while listening to the current mix. The early drivers were problematic, but the latest ones work reasonably well with 10.3x. The major problems involve occasional device recognition and failure to record long tracks. I recently started using a PreSonus Firepod and it also works well with Garage Band on both 10.3 and 10.4. The advantage of the Firepod is that it works out of the box, no drivers or extra software, and the quality of the preamps. The advantage of the M Audio 410 is the software controller.

M-Audio's iControl is probably the coolest thing ever. An M-Audio guy came by our store and demoed it. Its integration with Garageband is second to none.

In fact it is dedicated to GarageBand. According to the MAudio website it is a GarageBand controller and thats it. Correct me if I am wrong, but it is not an audio interface at all.

I use an M-Audio Firwire Solo exclusively with Garagband.
Works perfect- great quality, small, 1 xlr input - I love it!

Though it won't do this fellow a bit of good in this instance, yeah, I myself have been seeing the need for this repeatedly. I'm starting to hate to mouse around to do everything, when it's quicker to adjust with my other hand.

This is what I have and it works well enough--the firewire seems to take care of any latency issues.
One issue I do have with it is the volume on the mic input. I have to turn the gain almost to the max to get decent sound through the mic input--do you notice that 53buick?
