Re: Holy Moses...they DO work!
The program I'm trying to use only requires you to do 1 offer, but also get 5 or 10 friends to do 1 offer, depending upon what you are going for (the one I'm doing now requires 5, but if I complete this, I'm trying for a Mac mini, which requires 10). From the testimonials, it seems to work well, but none of my friends want to sign up and complete an offer until I get my item. I can't get my item if they don't sign up and complete an offer. Catch-22
Good luck with getting the iBook.

I think most people have heard of the style that you're trying headless bill, but everyone knows that they can't rely on other people and that this style usually doesn't work. Thats why everyone is impressed by this style, where you have the opportunity to do it all on your own. At least thats how it is for me, I've never seen this style before.

Re: Holy Moses...they DO work!
I can't recall if I replied to this thread or not, but I signed up for a free iPod a while back, using one of the referral thingies. Well, after months of not doing anything, I finally got 5 referrals to sign up for offers and follow thru. I'll post up when I get my free one, if it shows up.
Oh and BTW, I'm not out any money. The Blockbuster deal I did was free the first month, and I was able to cancel after 2 weeks. I even got 2 free rental coupons just for trying it. So, I'm out no money, and I spent about 30 minutes signing up for the thing, and that's it.
We'll see if it comes...

Re: Holy Moses...they DO work!
I did the freeipods.com deal last year around this time and got myself a free 20 gig 4th gen. After I had received the thing I came in here to tell others about it only to get blasted as spam, or that I was an idiot for doing it because of credit scores and all that stuff that's been mentioned already in this thread. I'm not sure why so many people are against this business model that Gratis Internet (they're the main ones behind this at least) has going, but they're missing out in my opinion.
If you can get enough people that are willing to sign up for this stuff, do it. It can work, although I've noticed that the offers they're putting out there now almost all require some amount of money. They don't seem to do many of the easily cancellable offers anymore, but I can't blame them.
Go for it CaptKevMan, I hope you get your iBook.

Re: Holy Moses...they DO work!
I agree with you there, Stretch. People I've talked to I've recommended either BMG, Blockbuster, Audible.com or the subscription to PSM as the best choices, since they were considered joining these sites anyway. Alas, no one has bit and a couple people I know have joined audible.com or Blockbuster directly through those sites rather than through my Gratis offer.

I've had an account going with "FreeMiniMacs.com" since February or so. In theory, it sounds like a great deal, but so far, I have 17 referrals, but only one person has completed an offer...it's been like that since about April. I don't see it changing any time soon.
I like the odds of this current one better. I don't have to refer anyone.

Remember the dot com explosion a few years ago? Remember when free internet used to be all the rage, and then it flopped because everyone hacked their software to get rid of the adware? The same thing will happen with this eventually, but ride the wave until you hit the beach.

(EDIT for clarification: I sent the redemption coupons to the promotion company via USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation...the quote above was the message when I checked the tracking status this morning.)

Wow. At first, I thought that was a confirmation that they had shipped your 'book.

Re: Holy Moses...they DO work!
Just got back from the Apple store. Got my 20GB model exchanged for a 60GB model, just had to pay the $100 difference.
Now I can finally listen to Electric Boogaloo while at the gym.

Holy crap! I didn't know the Apple store did exchanges! Do you have to show some kind on invoice or anything?

Re: Holy Moses...they DO work!
No receipt, just brought it in with the shrinkwrap still on it. The dude said they'd take an exchange as long as it's not an old model that they don't currently sell, and not an HP model.
I called first to verify, then went in. Brought it to the counter, dude went to get me the 60GB model, I paid, then left.

Here's the link to the one I used: http://ipods.freepay.com/?r=11932300
Also, a friend sent me a link to this forum, dedicated to free ipods. Who'da thunk there was a forum made to help you get free shwag?

Yes, they do work. I am getting my free mac mini shipped as we speak.
The trick is to follow up. The freeplay one doesn't notify you when you are complete, or ship automatically. You have to check your status, notify them when you have ten. Notify them when you are ready to have it shipped, etc...

Re: Holy Moses...they DO work!
longbody?
You don't wanna know for me. I didn't pimp my referrals much at all. I had the referral link sitting in my signature on one website...and never really asked people to do anything. Finding referrals is one thing, getting people to complete an offer is another. I don't really understand it, but I found an offer that was very easy and free.
For my iPod, I needed 5 completed referrals. I had something like 15 referrals, but it took me a few months to get 5 people to complete their offer. I have seen some people get their 5 completed referrals in a matter of 2-3 weeks, but I didn't push it. I had a friend who emailed everybody in his address book, but I didn't. Same friend tried to defeat the system by referring his wife and 2 dogs. Well, only one deal per address...so he didn't count for my iPod. If he had done it honestly, I would have had my iPod in May.
Oh well.

I may have to try for the Mac Mini and/or the iPod one(s). Since my PSP one is going nowhere at the moment.
If someone wants, you can PM me the referal link.

Hey Kev, if you don't mind, PM me the link to the site you used. I wouldn't mind an iBook (although I'd prefer a Mac Mini). Really, I'd take either one.
