Slooooooooooooow because of Animated icons
Anytime I try and post a New topic, or a full reply, It takes a good 3 minutes just to type in the Subject! Not that I am a slow typer, but I can type the whole thing and watch it type character by character, really sloooooowly. I have started doing my posts in Text Edit and then copy and pasting!
From past experience, this is being caused by the animated emoticons, if you made them still images, or hide them, then this problem would dissapear. I had this problem on several other forums and the admins chose to remove them, BAM instant speed increase.
I mainly use Camino, but when I tried it in IE and Safari, I had the same results. And I also experience the slowness that is described elsewhere about page loads, not all the time, but sometimes.

I don't think it's the icons. Sometimes this place just slows down.

I just tried doing a new post with camino and it does go real slow and actually locked it up, I also tried it in Firefox and no problems whatsoever.

His problem isn't with loading speed. It's a bug I've heard of before, but not for a while.
It was also a problem some people had with the smilies in, dare I say it, phpbb2.

Re: Slooooooooooooow because of Animated icons
I'm surprised people are getting the same slowdown with other browsers. When I saw the thread title, the first thought that popped in my head was this guy must be using Camino.
In Camino, I get around it by using CamiOptions and stopping animated gifs from animating. Makes for a less enjoyable forum experience but it's a lot more usable that way.

Re: Slooooooooooooow because of Animated icons
As I generally do not use the animated emoticons (Or the standard ones for that matter!) I don't think it would be too much of a problem on forums, but as I also do web design, I think I might run into some issues there!

Darn browsers crashing. Lord I apologize. Please feed me to the starving pygmy people in New Guinea when I die. Amen.

That bug happened in the old Safari and in it still happens in Camino. I'm fine on Safari 2 here, though.

Get a real Browser? what like Safari? I hate Safari, I hate IE, and I don't like FireFox. Camino is an awesome browser, has served me well.

If it was such an awesome browser, why are you having this issue then?

Wrong, right, and meh.

Evidently not.

Re: Slooooooooooooow because of Animated icons
Why doesn't Spotlight respect volume index disabling? Oh wait... things can be awesome and still have issues. (Not that I'm defending Camino. I haven't used it since it had that other name.)
That having been said, the animated GIF issue has plagued several browsers. Safari did used to have that same behavior. I found that turning off animated GIFs was a reasonable trade-off. Then again, I hate animated GIFs.

I use straight-up Mozilla builds.

I'm sorry, but are you saying that because I don't conform to YOUR browser tastes I am wrong?
I don't think so, I am my own person and free to like and dislike whatever I want, and yes, Safari sucks, and no I won't use it. I just posted the issues I was having as many other boards I have gone to were able to identify and fix the problem, if your solution is to use Safari then fine, I will stick with my problematic Camino, and love every minute of it (And just so you are aware, there are many many more people like me out there that use this browser, despite your thoughts on it)

Re: Slooooooooooooow because of Animated icons
Safari is utter crap. Firefox is good when customized. Camino is best, and this bug will be fixed with 0.9 final.

Shh. Shhhhh.
No big browser sucks except IE. Anything Gecko, WebKit, or Opera-based is good. How "great" they are or which is "best" is personal opinion based on their interface and options.
