You might want to go back a little further than that.

Cool mouse, change the name. I'd rather not feel like I'm fondling Super Rodent every time I use the thing...

why is the mouse handling sound effects and not the operating system? does this seem retarted to anyone else?

Because PC users using Mighty Mouse wouldn't have OS X to tell them what the mouse is supposed to sound like. Plus, wouldn't you rather have your mouse sounds coming from the direction of your mouse, instead of your speakers/headphones?

So it can't get lagged, like in the above scenario.  Plus, with a real mouse, does the computer click or the mouse? brow

Right now, it isnt listed under mice and keyboards, also you cant upgrade to it on a new computer, so yes they are still shipping w/ the standard mouse.

I'm sure someone will hack it to replace the sounds it makes when clicking, scrolling, etc.

I have my share of things that I like from Apple, and things that I initially don't like from apple. I like the Apple Wireless mouse, something that few people here will support, and I am using one right now! It just seems that you are only remembering when I am skeptical about things.

And seeing things in person usually changes my mind, anyways. I HATED the iPod mini when it was released, and then I went to the Apple store to look at it in person, and bought one the same day.

I guess what this ends up meaning is that since a disapproval stands out so much in this forum, and I am not afraid to voice such disapproval, that perhaps you have missed all of the times when I chimed in like everyone else, loving the product (iTMS, Tiger, Airport Express for instance), and you have only focused on when I disagreed with a move by apple (iPod Mini, iPod Shuffle, Intel Switch). I guess I am not a blind Apple Fangirl, and I am willing to voice my opinion either way, thank you. wink

Seeing as how there is copyright info on the mighty mouse page from the creators of the cartoon - I'm guessing no.

I'm confused as to how it works.

Are there any moving parts?  Will you have to lift your finger off of the button in order to 'press' it?

Re: Mighty Mouse?!

Looks interesting. I wouldn't buy one without trying it first - I've been using a trackball since '92 so any mouse seems weird to me. I'll have to wait until the local (30 miles away) Apple dealer gets some hooked to their display models before I decide if I like it.

No, it's a trackpad.

Dude. Easy on the nitpicking.
It was a figure of speech... and a joke.

I was simply referring to the fact that Apple is migrating to the same architecture as the rest of the personal computer industry.

Re: Mighty Mouse?!

I think I'm going to stop by the Apple Store on my way home and see if they have any out on display.  I wouldn't be terribly surprised if a BT version were to come out soon.

It would be even cooler if they put in a small rechargeable battery pack, but allowed it to be used and charged through USB (like the iPod).  Only problem is that you would have to plug it into a powered port (not the keyboard).

Re: Mighty Mouse?!

Ok, I got one.  The mouse works as advertised.

There's only one clicking motion, the mouse senses which finger is pressing and reacts accordingly.  It feels just like the old mouse when clicking, it just depends on where your fingers are.

The trackball is awesome.  It doesn't actually turn [edit:wrong], but this described "speaker" causes it to vibrate, making it feel as though it's turning.  It's very effective.

No accidental side scrolling, it's pretty easy to control the direction of the sliding.  The side buttons take a definitive click to make anything happen... it's a little tougher than I'd guessed, but I got over it after about 3 tries.

Thumbs up, I recommend them.  We only got a hundred or so in here and they're all sold out or on hold, so don't expect to get one today unless you've already called.
