Re: help!!! new user

Take the OS install disk you got with the iMac and put it in the optical drive.  Restart your iMac while holding down the c key.  When the iMac boots up to the install screen use the utilities menu item to select erase the hard drive. When that is done install the OS from the disc.

Lucky you to have an iMac G4!big_smile

Why not just trash any stuff you don't want and leave the operating system alone? confused

Re: help!!! new user

Oooooh.

Here's what you could do.
Is the previous owner's account password protected?  No?  Good.
Create a new user account for you.  Make it an admin account (administrator). Write down your name and password.
Delete the other user(s) account(s).
Wha-lah!  (that's French, but I don't rite it too good like)
You are now the only user on the iMac.

If he has a password to login and you don't know the password, well, you will need a boot CD (OS install disk) to change the password.  Sorry.sad

Re: help!!! new user

System Preferences
Accounts
Press the + button in the preference pane.  Do what it says.  Fill in the blanks.

Use Mac Help from the Finder and search for New User Account.  Mac Help is very good.
