XYZ, the MA MODS & Forums

http://homepage.mac.com/oatmeal/MAF/maxes/upinarms.gif

Let me start by saying this,

1) I have read many posts from XYZ for him to be called a lot more then troller
2) Yes he does whine and complain a lot
3) Lots of his posts sound or are anti-Mac (which pisses me also)

But....
1) Does not give the right for a MOD to start calling someone a Whiney Bitch. (Leave that for us regulars) A MOD should keep the peace and standards I used to see here when I first joined MA in 2000. A cop can't shoot a person for calling them a pig, for then you become what you hate the most. Yes there is a standard for MODS, if it's not posted somewhere, just think back and remember the forums in 2000-2002, you will see MODS who bit their lips a lot but also kept the forums at a great standard. I judge a lot of forums to this one.

2)XYZ may have a agenda when trying to prove his point, but people blow off his correct point just because of his past posts. This is wrong. He may have said BS in the past and will say more in the future, But when your right, your right. Covering it with some stuff he said in the past (good or bad) does not make him wrong.

benightedbastard wrote:

Let me repeat, for clarity: I agree with you that the handling of the eWorld thread leaves something to be desired. You want Alien punished? Fine, we'll be discussing it behind closed doors.

What do you want?

For Allen to stand up and be a real MOD/man and e-mail him for his wrong doings as well as XYZ on his also would be a good start, but hell no that would kill your pride, ain't pride a b**ch. But I know most people really can only talk smurf to someone here in these forums, behind the safety of their keyboards. Because any of this BS talk would not even start if they where in the same room with the other person. Cause I know for a fact some  5'3" 95lb geek would watch what they say if the knew the other person knows them, and and is a 6'3" 245lb Puerto Rican felon.

3) I read people say "XYZ leave" and some saying "no I want XYZ around, he keeps the boards buzzing" ( or something to that effect).

I am not posting this in his defense or opposition, I'm posting this for anybody who posts someone past posts to make themselfs look right (when their wrong), or posts some past incident to try and make someones present point in a post (which is right) seem wrong.

You call me out my name, your wrong, point blank end of story. I don't want to hear "well that's what he is" cause I'm sure some friends around your block can remember a few names you where and still are called that are true also. Just because XYZ stands out does not mean lets all jump on the XYZ pissing ban wagon.  MODS should lead not follow.

(in a whiney voice) "well MODS are people too"(end whiney voice), I don't wanna hear this cheap excuse, that's a cheap excuse of a chidish mind.
Have I blown steam off here, Hell YA!, but I'm not a MOD.

I remember reading a dumbass  post saying " we don't let people who ask to be a MOD become one".  That's got to be the stupidest thing I ever heard!

1) Not everyone wants to be a MOD, if the person has been around for a while has a cool personality and is good with people, MOD THEM UP! if you have a position open.
2) Your buddy from work may be cool with you but may not be a good MOD. (no I'm not saying this is how's it done)
3) lets not just use friends you know for MODS. (not saying that's what your using, just making a point)

Last and final note: I love these forums, but I'm beginning to see things here happening to the contrary. Personally If I got banned, my life goes on because my family is my life... not the net. There are members who I know have acess to the net, but don't post here anymore or a lot less because of these changes.

What was once a family forum, is turning,..... and the Darkside in Star Wars seems like a better place at times. Is it XYZ  or any other PeeCee loving or argumentive a-hole's fault? no, these forums get better or worse because of the leaders (the MODS and Admin's). My (in 2001) 6 year old son used to post here, now if he was 6 years old I would not let him. For the mannerism and things said here has changed, and not for the better. When I first start this post I stated "start calling someone a Whiney Bitch. (Leave that for us regulars)". I say that because I know the MODS would not mind, how could they, Allen says it, why can't the rest of us followers?.

The only ones who can lead this to a better way are our fourm leaders....... but you say "they can't lead us, they are only regular people also".........Remember Martin Luther King was a regular person also.

I agree as well.  Sad to see a mod press the submit button on a stupid comment, then try to defend it.

As I stated in the beginning http://homepage.mac.com/oatmeal/MAF/maxes/StayOnTopic.gif

I don't want this wandering off into sub comments, and BS conjecture that has nothing to do with the topic.
This is not a XYZ thread, if you read and understand the whole post you would know that.

Re: XYZ, the MA MODS & Forums

Personally, Cee, I'm not really sure what being on topic would look like, as you hit about a hundred points in that stream-of-conciousness monster. Not sure what you want answered or addressed, just looks like an edition of "The Way I 'Cee' Things, by Cee." So I'll just quote-and-respond, because that can't be off topic.

I remember reading a dumbass  post saying " we don't let people who ask to be a MOD become one".  That's got to be the stupidest thing I ever heard!

It's actually an effective litmus tests. People who ask to be mods generally crave attention, and then make very poor mods. Besides, making that rule keeps us from being deluged with requests.

1) Not everyone wants to be a MOD, if the person has been around for a while has a cool personality and is good with people, MOD THEM UP! if you have a position open.

We should have thought of that. Here we've been randomly picking new mods. Which probably explains the unfortunate incident of the spammer who now runs a Clan room.

2) Your buddy from work may be cool with you but may not be a good MOD. (no I'm not saying this is how's it done)

Then what are you saying?

3) lets not just use friends you know for MODS. (not saying that's what your using, just making a point)

What is the point?

What was once a family forum, is turning,..... and the Darkside in Star Wars seems like a better place at times. Is it XYZ  or any other PeeCee loving or argumentive a-hole's fault?

You seem to think someone's choice of an OS affects their ability to contribute to the forums.

no, these forums get better or worse because of the leaders (the MODS and Admin's).

Not really. The makeup of members is the biggest mood affecter.

My (in 2001) 6 year old son used to post here, now if he was 6 years old I would not let him.

Good, he should be outside.

When I first start this post I stated "start calling someone a Whiney Bitch. (Leave that for us regulars)". I say that because I know the MODS would not mind, how could they, Allen says it, why can't the rest of us followers?.

That sounds like something a child would say to get their way. If you've got a 10 year old son, you've probably heard this, and I'm sure you wished he was mature enough to realize the proper time and place for things. We certainly think most members are... but there's always the ones that need time. wink

Which is exactly what I thought when I first read Aliens remark on XYZ (.e. whiney bitch).  I have kept silent for a while, but I find his behavior (not in general, but as of late) not in line with this forum nor the other mods.  A while ago he cut down a noob for not know where to post a topic.  A noob!  Don't really want to search for the post, but his response was not acceptable.  My 2 cents, I know.  I still respect the mods here, but feel as if they are closing in to justify poor judgment by one.  You guys should be more level headed when it comes to a compliant.  I realize that you have problems with some members that complain too much, but please clear your heads and see that sometimes self modding is needed.  This was the problem with J.  He made many off color comments that slipped under the radar due to the fact that he was a mod.

Not what I said or ment, read the whole line again slowly. But then again there are people who post in the MA forums who do

mood and the way things are handled affect the whole, if you handle things properly the mood will stay right.

that's a cop out of a answer, my take,- Forums are smurfed up because of everybody else, not my fault hmm I take no responabilty. Your beginnning to sound like the government. hmm am I wrong? ya? then post a real answer then.

When I first start this post I stated "start calling someone a Whiney Bitch. (Leave that for us regulars)". I say that because I know the MODS would not mind, how could they, Allen says it, why can't the rest of us followers?.

the line I said is the attiude people here take and have taken because of the ways MODS & Admins address and/or don't address problems here properly.

Re: XYZ, the MA MODS & Forums

My question is this. What happens if I decide to call someone a whiney bitch? Do I get a get out of Big Brother/Perma Ban free card? Everyone who posts in MiniThink had to 'tone it down and play nice' awhile back with the birth of BigBrother (or whatever name it has taken at this point). I'm not trying to get anything going, I have NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER with either XYZ or Alien. I'm just saying there seems to be some division going on here. I've seen some people get banned for far far less offenses (compared to either of the parties mentioned in this latest 'fiasco'). Perhaps the rules need to be redefined, I don't know. Just because someone doesn't share popular views doesn't make them a bad person. I think the best thing would be to ignore certain posts and comments and resist the strong wanting urge to respond with the intra-web smack down that is 'Jane you whiney bitch...' Anyway, just my thoughts. shrug

I would not follow their example.  You might get banned.  Placed into big bro and the lot.  Only some people can do things and not get a slap.  Big Brother.  This is not a democracy.  Privately owned.

I'd assume you'd get an email from the local mod telling you to please tone it down and watch your step. AFTER one or two more of these requests getting ignored, you'd then be given a time-out.

Unless you're privvy to Alien's emails and mod-only access area, you don't know that this hasn't been addressed.

The mods here have already pointed out that he's been talked to. They'll no more divulge details than they would if you wanted to know all about Poster X's communications with the mods.

I wasn't concerned with the details as it is (as you pointed out) none of my/anyone's business. My point is that there have been others timed out for less than that and that ultimately the whole thing could have been avoided by just ignoring the urge to respond in such a manner.
