Photography Forum
I'm looking for a good place to talk about photography, equipment, methods, get tips etc.
I'd do a Google search, but I often find that I find better forums through word of mouth.
Any advise?

Fred Miranda
Digital Camera Resource
and if you shoot Nikon gear, Nikonians
I have heard good things about the FM forums, but havent posted there myself. DC resource is far and away better than DPReview.

Re: Photography Forum
Problem with forums like DPReview and Photo.net is that their discussions are usually strictly on equipment.
I'm looking for more of a discussion forum like like this, where discussion on equipment happens, but tips are shared, and discussion on news.
I checked the Miranda site, and it looks good.
I've also checked these Phototakers and Photographycorner.com, but both have premium memberships and have some of their boards locked. I got them from google, so I have no clue how the discussions there are.
For Photographycorner, I've noticed that when I click on a member's name next to their post, nothing happens. It's like the links dead. It's not my browser either, since I tried both Firefox and Explorer. Is the site just unfriendly to Macs (I hate that)?
While Phototakers won't take free Email addresses. Gmail rocks, so screw them.

Re: Photography Forum
If you are looking for tips and discussion of photography, Nikonians is one of the best communities out there. Nothing stops you from reading, you just cant post photos for critique that are done on non-Nikon gear. There are active forums for various types of photography, as well as good advice on both colour and black and white film.
DCResource has a few general forums with tips and advice, so try that too. I just wish they would open up a "positive critique and tip forum". Lots of people post photos, but there isnt a lot of "try this" or "do that". Mebbe I'll make a suggestion.

Well said. I gave up on photography forums a few years ago because of this. Photography forums are mostly hardware geek gatherings and very little discussion of the "art".
Gets kinda tedious after awhile.

What do you shoot on?
edit:
I find Ken Rockwell really annoying, but his quip about hardware geeks, whome he calls "measurebators" is hilarious. I'll admit I get hung up on gear, but I am trying to reverse that trend by going to older medium and large format film cameras. No AF, no matrix metering, just a focussing screen, light meter, and the film.

Much like Phototakers.com, Fred Miranda doesn't accept registration with free email accounts.
Why the hell would I pay for Email or use my ISP's service when I can get over 1GB of Email space from Google, which I can access from wherever the internet is available?
