Oh, sorry about that.  Noticing your location, I thought yours was a pro-Colorado post.  As such I was immediately reiterating that Colorado had absolutely no chance today.
Sorry.  --My bad.

And Colorado's bad (currently 28-3 Texas!).  lol

No worries. I've flaunted my "proud Texas grad" status a few times already around here, and didn't want to be too flagrant by doing it again.

42-3 at the half, no? Now I'm almost starting to feel sorry for the Buffs.

Nah… gotta keep those offensive numbers high for Young's Heisman hopes. wink

He was valedictorian of his university (not just his particular college) class, president of the Student Government Association (or whatever they called it back then), etc.  I doubt there would have been a school that wouldn't have let him in.  He stayed in OK because he had been the "man of the family" since his father died when my dad was 12.  In those days in small-town OK a teenage boy could earn as much or more than an adult woman.  And other than his brother, with whom his mom was pregnant when his dad died, he was the only male in the family.

I am for Texas in the upcoming game against USC.  It's time USC gets firmly put in its place.  Actually, it's long overdue.  It still bugs the crap out of me that they can come so close to losing to so many teams they play, including the piss ant teams in their conference, and still be ranked number one, when Texas has absolutely throttled everybody this year (except Ohio State).

Just don't anybody forget, the UT is in Knoxville, founded in 1794, when Texas was part of Mexico, 42 years before it became a republic (which wouldn't have happened without the help of a bunch of Tennesseans) and 51 years before it became a state.  wink

Re: It's College Football Time, Kiddos!

It looks like USC played the harder schedule:

Who USC played

Who TX played

Anyway, I just hope the Rose BOwl is more interesting than these two games just played.

Re: It's College Football Time, Kiddos!

And Texas kicked the smurf out of everyone they played, except Ohio State, who was ranked number 4 when they played.

USC came close to losing so many times this season.  It is my hope that Texas will hand their heads to them on plates and, once and for all, put an end to the hype that is USC.

You want to see teams with tough schedules?  Try one in the SEC.  Ole Miss had a tougher schedule than USC.  So did Kentucky and Mississippi State.  And Vanderbilt's was close.

Notice I'm picking the worst teams (traditionally) in the SEC, too.  Feel free to check out the schedules the best teams played.  They make USC's look pitiful.  Take Tennessee's, for instance.  Five top ten teams on the schedule.  Four top six teams on the schedule.  USC?  One top ten team (bowl game excluded), which was ranked 45th in the preseason, by the way.  Yeah.  Real tough.

And thus the "Volunteers" mascot name, I understand. Davy Crockett, Sam Houston… both from Tennessee. 'Nuff respect to Tennesseans. (Though I'd still hesitate to call it the UT. wink)

Re: It's College Football Time, Kiddos!

All I can say is that everyone thought Oklahoma would destroy USC last year, and... well, that didn't happen. If Vince Young plays like he did against Texas Tech, the Longhorns don't have a chance. But they probably won't play that badly. I hate USC too, but they didn't stumble into the Orange Bowl last year.

(Full disclosure: many of my high school friends are USC alumni. They buy the drinks when the Trojans do well, so I hope the best for the Condoms until next season, when the Bears rip them to shreds.)

We'll see. He's too small to get many receiving yards in the NFL. And the Heismann is his. Remember, people still pick that one, not a computer, and people love Reggie Bush.

Hook 'em Horns!  Awesome game, even more awesome result.

And Leinart's remarks at the end of the game is proof positive what USC really stands for:  University for Spoiled Children.  Though I think next year USL might be more appropriate:  University of Sore Losers.  What a schmuck.

Vince Young was equally as good a passer as Leinart and more than twice as good a running back as Bush tonight.  But yet they're the ones who won Heisman Trophies.  The one nice thing about that is that Heisman winners have usually had horrible NFL careers.

And ESPN can eat my shorts with all their USC hype.

Hook 'em Horns!
