Virginity??

This thread is boring.
Okay, so let's derail it.
(The following is a derailment of Malkin's cellphone thread.)
What is the best age for a heterosexual person to lose his/her virginity nowadays? And, if you're a certain age, is it okay to lose your virginity with someone you don't love just so that you understand what sex is like? Or is it immoral or degrading to have sex with someone you don't love no matter what age you are?
I'd say you should keep being a virgin till some time between 18 and 25, and make love only with a person you're in love with.
I guess I think you should not have sex with anyone you don't truly love ever.

Re: Virginity??
I lost my virginity when I was ten to someone I could have cared less about.
Needless to say, I regret it. Sex with someone you care about is infinitely more fulfilling that empty meaningless smurfing.
As far as age goes, I think it's different for everybody and I honestly think that ten was just about when I was ready for it. Then again, I know 20 year olds who I wouldn't deem ready.

Re: Virginity??
im 16 years old.
I think that you shouldn't have sex with someone unless you really love them.
My girlfriend and I recently broke up, and I'm glad we didn't have sex. We got pretty close to it, but now that I look back I'm so glad we didnt. And I loved her, and I still care about her.
So, I guess I'm a virgin... We never had actual intercourse. ViRginZ 4 LiFe. jk

Re: Virginity??
I still maintain that much of the hell I endured during my adolescence could have been avoided had I been allowed culturally sanctioned "safe" sex at an earlier age. Say 13 or 14. The timing is different for everyone, but I think there's far too much pressure these days to delay sexual intercourse till an unnaturally late age. Some of the reasoning behind wanting to do so is valid, but it didn't keep my urges from basically driving me insane as a younger teenager. Once I started having sex, my life, including the relationship I had with my family, greatly improved. I don't think love is necessary for good sexual relations- just a realistic understanding of what each partner is expected to give and receive. However, some people can never understand sex without love, and for them it would be a mistake. As I said, it's a pretty individualistic thing and there's no one right answer for everybody.

Virginity is overrated.
Virginity is underrated.
Giving people grief for believing either is utter bullsmurf.

Personally, sex is sex, but yeah, I guess there's different levels.

I agree with Malkin. The answer lies entirely with the individual.

Re: Virginity??
I'm still a virgin at 17. I've never had a serious relationship, but that's okay. It's not like you need one when you're in high school. Not to say that I'm not eager to mount up, it's just that it doesn't bother me that much. And like Phy said it's dumb to give someone grief about it either way.

Re: Virginity??
I wish I'd waited to get my screwed up head sorted out before having sex, to have the confidence to know I was worth more than what my body could provide. Wish I'd waited for my husband to show up. Everybody's different though, and some are certainly equipped to handle it at a younger age. That said, all males had better steer clear of my sisters who, being my sisters, do not fall into the aforementioned category. I will castrate you.

Old enough to think they know better. Once I get into momma hen mode though...
Two of them are sisters in law and they have my husband protecting them as well. I've had to rescue my actual sister from sex crazed teenage boys who truly had her convinced that "you can't get pregnant the first time" and that "guys shouldn't stay in relationships without sex." Dear god, castration is too good for them.

Re: Virginity??
I lost mine when I was 19 and I dont think at the time I was ready for it and it was a very very negative experience for me. I liked the guy but I sure as hell didnt love him and I was so upset by how it ended that I was very depressed for a few months. When I met my husband my life completley turned around and we have an awesome relationship and I think that sex is a wonderful thing if it is with someone that you love, but I would assume that most people who have it with someone they dont particularily like will end up regreting it.
Personally for me waiting was a good idea (although I should have waited longer), but I dont think that the cultural environment I was raised in with my parents being SOOO hardcore rightwing/conservative was very healthy and that there are much better was of educating your children about sex then "DONT DO IT!".
The age totally depends on the person, but I think its much better to do it with someone that you really care about.

Why, I'd have so MANY nickels in my Amazon account.

Lost mine when I was 12, and got caught in the act by my mother. I got a very stern lecture about not having sex, and spent the next decade or so scared of sex. I don't blame my parents or anything, but it kind of screwed me up with girls in high school.

Bah - blame your parents.
