Yes, I get it. As a member of an often negatively-stereotyped group of folks, I know this very well. All types of people exist in every organization.

What you seem to suggest promotes the idea that a heathy marriage requires more to it.
This is news to you?
It shouldn't be too far to say that a healthy marriage has so much that it can last without sexual intercourse, in the face of less sexual compatibility or infrequent encounters.
Some do, some don't - it depends on the people involved. Emotional attachement can be a big help. I've met some people who really do have functional or semi-functional marriages without having much or any sex. I also know people that would probably get divorced if they weren't so hard-core Catholic.
Sex is important, sure. However, the sex can be great and you still might not be able to stand the person. If you can think of one member of the opposite sex that you wouldn't marry no matter what the sex was like, I'm sure you can understand how this works.
Good marriages are complex, close relationships, no two are completely alike, and it's very hard to classify them. That said, it's a safe bet that marriages aren't just about sex. A lot of people put a lot of stock in the vows and the ceremony, and walking down the aisle really does change in a fundemental way how they think and feel about their new spouse.
The fact is, sexual compatibility was such a issue that the notion of the 'honeymoon' was born- giving mead (honey) to a married couple for a month (moon) so that the alcohol would break down their inhibitions.
Yeah, getting married to some woman you've never met can do wonders to cure that pesky gregariousness.

Are you saying you're a...pedophile?
In about 50% of marriages, sex is important to make 1-3 children before the first ten years of marriage. The woman needs this to successfully divorce the husband, take the house and kids and make the man's life a living hell, furthermore gaining leverage in the dispute by using the man's dislike of his situation against him. If any man has any lofty ambitions about making about $100,000/year or more and will do anything to get it while being married, get a prenup. And if you were born wealthy, well, you already know what to do.
If you look around the table and can't tell who the sucker is, it's you.

I face stereotypes every day.

Yeah, now you tell me. Where were you when I was getting married?
Truly though, your outlook, while very cynical, is also not without merit.

I don't think so. I'm not catholic, but the catholic church being pro fornication would be news.
I think it depends on whether or not you're a priest, and whether or not your partner is a young boy.
totally unfair stereotype!!!

So give them birth control and the AZT cocktail and condoms! (Oh, wait: the Church doesn't want that!)
Those don't always work. They also promote a culture of sex which ultimately leads to more unprotected sex.
"culture of sex"? Oh, come on!
Sex is a DRIVE! It's an instinct! It's a NEED!
Any church or anybody who doesn't understand that sex is biological doesn't understand humanity at all.
When normal sexual gratification is artifically prohibited, as in celibacy in convents and rectories and prisons, adults with working endocrine systems turn to far less efficient, less loving, less mutualistic and often perverted ways to satisfy their urges (drives, instincts, needs).
Sex with love and commitment is the ideal; sex without those two factors may be pleasurable in an itch-scratching sort of way.
But sex without love and commitment is pretty pathetic by comparison to having the whole package.

Yeah, but pedophile priest jokes ARE the problem. No more pedophile priest jokes, please. They are unfair and hurtful to the decent priests out there.

hey, the only priests I've ever known didn't molest any boys, and if they possibly had any sex it was with lonely religious women in their homes at night.
