Dell Just Can't Do It...
Dell's new DJ Ditty has a name as cool as its' appearance and is meant to compete with the iPod Shuffle...
It has a screen and a one-month subscription to Napster included...
So this or the Shuffle for you?

Re: Dell Just Can't Do It...
Shuffle of course, I'm too cheap to buy a real iPod. Anyway I'm on my 2nd shuffle because saving up 100 bucks is nowhere near as big a deal as saving up for 200 of 300. It's so small that the first one I owned slipped out of my pocket one busy day.

Re: Dell Just Can't Do It...
I would say that I will stay with my shuffle. The whole Napster thing is a non selling point for me. I just wouldn't feel right about renting music. I am also so used to iTunes now that I don't think I would be able to change mid stream. Oh, and my nano is pretty nifty as well. 4X the storage for 2X the price

Re: Dell Just Can't Do It...
Except for the ugly Dell logo, and the stupid name, as long as it has decent sound, and a decent interface, it could be good.
It won't hurt Apple, but it's not a bad try.

Re: Dell Just Can't Do It...
Dell is not cool.
The stupid name is bad enough, but having that in-yer-face logo on the front kills it for me. Have they learned nothing from Apple??! Also 512MB is a bit pants, isn't it? Otherwise I guess it's ok...
Personally if I had to chose, I'd take the shuffle. Though in reality I'd rather be without a music player for a few more weeks/months/whatever and save up for a Nano. Obviously that is contingent on my NetMD dying, which doesn't look likely to happen any time soon.

Idiot.
It's not about more than 20 CDs worth of songs.
It's about 20 CDs worth of songs and data files, all on one device.

I don't think it'll sell very well. They're relying on a word-of-mouth advertising campaign. What the heck? They probably just couldn't afford to advertise, then turned around and said, "Uh, we meant to do that."

Well, if they're relying on word-of-mouth, then let's just stop talking about it.

At 512 MB the only way anyone could have 20 CDs worth of anything is if its in a very compressed format, say like 32 KB/s MP3s & WMAs for example.

I love how they claim a 220 song capacity - if you encode 64Kbps WMA. Who's gonna do that?
Word of mouth? Everyone knows what an iPod is. Hardly anyone knows what a Dell DJ is - or that Dell even makes a player.

I can just see the talentless corporate schmucks coming up with this truly offensive name after watching the horror which was the VMAs.
Maybe they let the mentally challenged guy in the mail room have a go at marketing, although I think he probably would've come up with somthing better than this crap.
Dell's "Mini-Mini MooMoo Poopy" anyone?
