Re: France finally exposed for what it is
Hey!!!
Dont put down the French, after all they invented gravy, just some people call it sauce.
Its a great way to hide the taste of their rancid decaying dishes
err...sorry I meant cuisine.
I’m not ready to make nice-I’m not ready to back down-I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round-It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could-‘Cause I’m mad as hell-Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should

Nope!
Actually I think it is entirely apposite.

I know no one posted anti american pictures. But if you re-read my statement several times you will note I said nothing about pictures. I said if its ok for people to make fun of America (not in this thread only) then its certainly of to make fun of the French.

Re: France finally exposed for what it is
What gives John Wayne here the authority to determine NATO's allies?
Because John Wayne is the 800 pound gorilla, just like in the UN. The 800 pound gorilla will get its way or the gorilla will find ways to change minds.
Might is right? Or is it "might is right as long as it's our might"?
Didn't say that, did I? I just said "The 800 pound gorilla will get its way." I never said "The 800 pound gorilla is always right."

Re: France finally exposed for what it is
i dont recall anyone posting anti-us pictures in this thread or in any others.
of course people have made statements going against the current us govnt or whatever, but you might have noticed by now that discussion of such issues is the life blood of this forum
i admit the pictures were semi-amusing, but other than they were digs at the french it was totally off topic to post them.
maybe i should post some anti-us somalia pictures or something...it would add the same amount of nothing to the debate that your pictures did

No. You said the gorilla ie. the strong, have the "authority". But he doesn't have the authority he has the power. Hence my comment.

Well people are getting blasted to bits just about every week so perhaps you can derive some sort of perverse satisfaction from that. I know it's not like the real thing but every little bit counts I guess.

I think the terrorist attacks against civilians in Israel is disgusting...and the fact that the Israelis government policy towards the Palestians does nothing to help those civilians.

Re: France finally exposed for what it is
The hardest thing for me to believe isn't that people would begin to be childish in defending their beliefs (even if they do not understand why they believe as they do), but that people would be actively encouraging war; especially a war that we are "not allowed" to know why it is being fought.
People will die in this war. If this is in defense of 9-11, many more innocent people have already died than the 3500-5000 who died that day (and the few days afterwards). The fact that they are not Americans does not mean they are not innocents. Did you have a choice where you were born?
Many many more will die in this coming war than the 3500-5000 who died that day. If this is in defense of our oil interests, what price do we put on a lower per gallon charge and a higher profits for our national leaders? If this is a pre-emptive strike at a future enemy, how do you know the outcome of events that will never come to pass? How do you claim on one hand to have knowledge of weapons and then on the other hand refuse to share it? How do you gloss over the fact that these weapons were given and sold to a people by the very leaders who are now indignant that these weapons exist? Why were they given in the first place? To kill. But does the idea that they could be used to kill a different people make it any better or worse that they were sold for an explicit killing purpose in the first place? Are american lives more important than European lives or Arab lives? Are a people more worthy of life because of where they were arbitrarily born?
We are in uproar over the loss of 3500-5000 lives in a single morning. It is a tragedy. We will kill thousands more trying to right this tragedy, none of whom will ever have a vigil or song written for them, none of whom will ever see inspiring messages by national leaders the world over dedicated to their death. We will kill mercilessly for the sake of unknown future events and in the name of the past dead while ignoring the living.
God Bless America. Land of the free, home of the brave. May God have mercy on her soul...

We have been told repeatedly why it's being fought. You've apparently not listened.
People will die in this war. If this is in defense of 9-11...
It's not. You obviously haven't been listening.
You've obviously and apparently missed my point completely. Go forth and kill some innocents now. Have fun.

My comment was directed at DavidMichael. His comment was tasteless to say the least. Heaven knows I am no supporter of the present Israeli governmenment headed as it is by a war criminal. Even less do I support the one government with the power to make a change, the US government, underwriting the present Israeli regime, and by extention, its policy on settlements in occupied territory. Ordinary people on both sides, in a conflict where both sides are right and wrong, just get the worst of it.
Patiently waits for some fool to come along and call this sentiment anti-American..........

You bet. I figure that retroactively makes up for the French "bashing" that has occured so far.
Q: How many Frenchmen does it take to defend Paris?
A: Unknown, it has never been attempted
