"Axis of Evil"
I know it's kind of on the old side, but I can't get it out or my head. Isn't announcing an "axis of evil" a pretty good indicator of insanity? I mean, who is the official authority on what is evil?
Or am I missing something.

It's what you're NOT missing that's important.

Re: "Axis of Evil"
how would three words said in a speech be an indicator of insanity?
If you want to get all existential and/or metaphysical, then I suppose 3 mere words are indicative of nothing. But you're smarter than that, and I think you're just begging the argument.

Re: "Axis of Evil"
you're not actually arguing that bush is insane are you? Becuase if you are you're going to need a lot more proof than that
Since when do we need proof? How about circumstantial evidence, will that satisfy you?

Re: "Axis of Evil"

How about "I kill babies"? That would do it. Really, though, I don't think we would need to wait for him to announce clearly that he's nuts. The "Axis of Evil," phrase is enough circumstantial evidence to justify some sort of civic "intervention."
Come on, the phrase reeks of lunacy, whether it be Bush's own or institutional. Either that or it is total bullcrap, in which case the truly insane are those that believe in the phrase.
I think it's more likely that he doesn't know the full meaning of the words in is speeches. Sure, he's got the basics, but we all know that his speech writers adn cabinet members- whoever's running the show- know full well what is being said.
If the words "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" don't include the right to experiment with your own consciousness, then the Declaration of Independence isn't worth the hemp it was written on.

Insanity would be more like nominating them for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Come on, this is kind of a stretch isn't it. You can come up with better insults.

Oh, I assure you, this is no insult. I am stating, quite bluntly, that Bush is off his rocker. He has decided that the US is the "good guys" and that we must fight the axis of evil. I charge this as fact, not as a some insult. If I wanted to insult, I'd talk about pretzels, or binoculars, or nucular energy.
Mind you, this is an educated man, and the President of the United States. Is he really in the position to define good and evil? is anyone? To use Northwind's analogy, isn't that a job for Superman?

Of course, from the position of moral relativity, nothing can be evil or good.
I, on the other hand, believe that there are moral certainties, and thus anybody can recognize what is truly good, and what is truly evil.

Well, out of curiosity, how are you certain that you are right, and the evil ones are wrong, and that it's not the other way around? How do you prove the moral certainties?

So you think that good is bad and bad is good, eh?
You think that governments who prey upon their citizens such that their leaders gain power, and governments have the right to enslave their citizens and invade other countries and wreak havoc to other civilized nations, because "all forms of culture are valid, they are just different?"
The "Axis of Evil" phrase is a proper and appropriate sizing up of reality.
All these governments have something in common with respect to how they relate to the free world.
They are all led by he-men, masters of the universe, who think it's valid to cause trouble in other countries.

Oh I see, you're on a Crusade. It worked out so well the first time.
And that doesn't even go into the whole concept of tolerance that Jesus preached, but he was just a hack anyway.

If three words can indicate insanity, can three numbers indicate evil? Like for example, someone who has 6.66 posts per day is evil?

I believe in tolerance. I believe in Jesus. I love my neighbors. But I'll be damned if the only prospect of peace is the one where we walk on eggshells until some smurf blows up something else with a lot of people in it.

Believe or not; it doesn't bother me. RU asked for the source of my moral certitude. I gave it to him.

But you did not answer my [possibly futile] question. So I shall try to phrase it another way:
Please tell me: Who, or what is God?
