Rock isn't dead! Just don't listen to anything made after 1995!
Just kidding......although I doubt the world will ever see rock records as good as the ones that came out between '65 and '80.

Alice Cooper at his finest. Though I like "Desperado" and "Welcome to My Nightmare" the most.
By Alice Cooper, I mean the Alice Cooper Group, before Alice actually changed his name (I forget his original name) and went solo under the same name. That's really my only gripe with the dude, since it seems like it was a kinda a cheap move.

I actually like Brutal Planet and Dragontown best from Alice Cooper. Though saying that, i really like most of it.
/me just recently went to an Alice Cooper show
If anyone else has, did you think his new guitar player looks like Johnny Depp?

Re: rock music fans?
rock is slightly dead but u just have to dig deep into the rock nation to find anything good. All the really popular bands suck except for a select few. Nicleback sucks ass...i think it would be safe 2 say that they r the worst non-poser band out their.

Re: rock music fans?
I liked the dead presidents and everclear. What ever happened to them? They rocked... right? Also, rock is a pretty general term. I consider bands like The Dead Kennedys as rock. Although different from Led Zep, they are still rock. I think that I would also put "alt rock" in the same boat. It is all rock and or roll. I would go so far as to say that even some of the old blues could be considered rock, or at least that rock came from it. Rock is not an animal unto itself. It is an ever growing, changing thing.

Everclear had two good songs.
They were... "Halloween Americana" and "El Distorto De Melodica".

Rock died a loooooong time ago folks, after a two decade secret exile. By the time Huey Lewis and Madonna and Robert Palmer and Peter Cetera were hailed as "rock" you'd have thunk Elvis would have finally jumped out of the UFO to set them straight, but he didnt, and so while real rock lived out the last of its days partying hard to the end, no one noticed when it dropped dead. Its ghost appeared that time Seattle appeared on the map again, but alas, it was a phantasm reenacting the final moment of rock killing itself.

So how would you define "rock?"

Unless you can define the common traits there that make them "rock" that really isn't an answer. In fact, there are a lot of people who would argue about prog rock being rock.

Re: rock music fans?
I doubt a high school band from a guy who likes Placebo, Mudvayne, Korn, and The Used is going to "save" rock. In fact, I'm not sure what you would be saving it from.

Re: rock music fans?
None of those bands you just listed are emo. The only thing that is even remotely close is early The Used. Like 1st album The Used.
Also, HIM is hardly music, much less rock. A generic Disturbed rip-off band that has managed success riding Bam Margara's coat-tails is hardly a band that plays real rock n' roll.
Now, before you get all angry and offended, I need to remind you that this is not an attack at you. Seriously. I'm just an smurf when it comes to music. So with that in mind, discuss on...

If you like rock you should check out Nashville Pussy. I bought their Get Some! record on a whim whilst browsing though a bunch of LPs after recognizing their name from this rock poster book I've got. Turns out they're pretty good.

Re: rock music fans?
I'm from Nashville.
That has absolutely no relevance at all. Except that you should check out the best rock group from Nashville in the past 7 years: The Pink Spiders. Mash together Elvis and The Clash with a dash of Black Flag, and you'll get The Pink Spiders. They really are incredible. IT really cool, because they've been around the Nashville rock scene for almost 8 years, and now they are signed to Geffen. It's really cool.
