Just One More Thing...
Apple has announced a “One More Thing” event on October 12, 2005, at the same California Theatre venue where the iPod photo and U2 Special Edition iPod were announced last year.

Re: Just One More Thing...
Just to get this unrealistic prediction out of the way, Apple is releasing x86 laptops.
So I bet it is probably just going to be the next generation iPod.

Re: Just One More Thing...
I'm thinking a video iPod and/or a third size of iPod (GB-wise that is, maybe 80 or 100GB). Video podcasts (already on the iTMS), music videos, and (at least eventually) a video store on iTunes.
The video on the iPod may be limited to audio track (and maybe photos- initial photos for songs and chapter markers for video podcasts) only when mobile, with both tracks reserved for when the iPod is connected to a TV or projector.
This is all mostly just pure speculation on my part though. But, somebody did find "Buy video" graphics hidden in the iTunes resource file: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/ … eocopy.png

I highly doubt the laptops are even going to be talked about during the event.

A video iPod might not be useful for some (small screen, most likely), but it'd be pretty cool if you could watch video podcasts on there.

Re: Just One More Thing...
a video iPod would only be useful if it had, say, S-Video out (like the iPod photo) in which to play it on a real TV. That would be like a DVD collection in your pocket. S-video and optical out would be awesome.

It will not happen for this mini mini revision.

I love how people make up their prediction of what the announcement based on what would suit them best. It doesn't matter if there's absolutely no evidence to support it, people will still tote it as their honest prediction of what is to come.
I really hope that this crap isn't real:

If this is in response to posts in this thread, there is a little evidence for my prediction (and any others involving an iTunes video store and/or iPod video). I had already posted a link but here is the link again in thumbnail form for the lazy.![]()

My post was with regards to iLife '06 being released in '05 and a mid-range DVD app that has never been seriously rumored before. Yes. For these products and these products alone, Apple decided to schedule a special event.

Re: Just One More Thing...
Asteroid? Set-top-box? TableMac? I doubt that they would go to so much trouble for a simple update to an existing product. I think this is a brand new 'Big Wazoo', "I mean, who wouldn't want one!" kind of product! Video iPod support is in iTunes but I doubt it will be used yet, so no video iPod.
My bet is a new class of Mac. If it was the iPodV the invitation would be "Here we go again!"
