Powerup failure...
My PPC dual 1.25 GHz G4 ( 2 GB RAM ) will not fully startup.
When I press the power button I hear the apple chimes, then the Apple Logo shows and then the paddle wheel spinning for less then a second and THEN COMPLETE SHUT/POWER DOWN.
Just before the shut down I hear a click.
I've disconnected all power USB/FIREWIRE HUBS and just have the mouse and keyboard pluged into the back of my said MAC.
Any ideas please to give me a heads up before I drive down to my mac shop tomorrow?

Could be.
Thanks for the hint.

Re: Powerup failure...
I would have to agree on the RAM. I have a dual 1.8 G5 and had the same issue, but sometimes it just would not start up, no chime just the light. Went to Apple three times before they figured it out...bad RAM.
Smile anyway and laugh!

RAM doesn't 'click'. Hard drives 'click.'

How many chimes do you hear?
The storm starts when the drops start dropping. When the drops stop dropping, the storm starts stopping.

Re: Powerup failure...
It's funny how RAM can suddenly "go bad."

I'm still trying to figure out if you're a girl posing as Macboy4139, or a boy posing as a girl, and a bit confused sexually. <shrug> laughinol

Just once: the normal "every thing" is OK sound except all is not well.

Re: Powerup failure...
Well the problem was a hard drive.
My tech guy removed/unplugged and re-plugged the drive and was then able to boot into the main hard drive. We then repaired the directory with DiskWarrior, re-install ( archieval ) TIGER and all seems to be OK now..
