smurf off, Stallone. "Rocky 6"

Old Rocky is having a midlife crisis again. Give it up already. Go to a nursing home and entertain the wheelchair crowd.

Re: smurf off, Stallone. "Rocky 6"
I remember going to see Rocky V in the theater. I was working at the college radio station at the time and my friend did the movie revue program, that means he had a permanent free pass and the pass allowed him to bring a guest. He wanted to go to a movie that he knew he could pan, so we got baked an went to Rocky V. That's the one where Rocky fights this super bad-smurf Russian fighter played by Dolph Lundgren. This was during the pre-Glasnost era, so the Russians were still considered the bad guys. You knew going in that Rocky, dressed as usual in his American flag trunks was going to get beaten to pulp until the last minute when he'd trounce that evil Commie bastard -- which is exactly what happened.
We laughed and laughed and laughed!! On the way out there were a dozen 14-16 year old boys straining at the edge of the Velvet Rope, waiting for the next show asking us with excited tones, "Did he win? Did he win?"
Boy, what a hoot!

I quit watching at Rocky II
it's rare to get more than 2 in a series.

If memory serves, Rocky V (about 1000000 times worse than 4) is when a washed up Rocky molds a young fighter (played by boxer Tommy Morrisson) into a champion, only to be betrayed by said young fighter and his greed. The whole thing climaxes with this street fight between the young champ and Rocky and includes things like karate kids (I smurf you not). Definitely in my "movies with no redeeming qualities" hall of fame.

Re: smurf off, Stallone. "Rocky 6"
Plot summary for Rocky V from imdb.com
Rocky Balboa is forced to retire after having permanent damage inflicted on him in the ring by the Russian boxer Ivan Drago. Returning home after the Drago bout, Balboa discovers that the fortune that he had acquired as heavyweight champ has been stolen and lost on the stockmarket by his accountant. His boxing days over, Rocky begins to coach an up-and-coming fighter named Tommy Gunn. Rocky cannot compete, however, with the high salaraies and glittering prizes being offered to Gunn by other managers in town.
World heavyweight boxing champion Rocky Balboa returns home to Philadelphia to a hero's welcome after defeating Ivan Drago in a brutal match. Rocky soon discovers that his match with Drago has left him with damage to his brain, and his fortune, which he had entrusted to his wife Adrian's brother Paulie, has been squandered by an incompetent accountant. In debt to the IRS, Rocky is forced to sell most of his possessions, including his mansion. Rocky, Adrian, and their son Rocky Balboa Jr, move back to Rocky's old neighborhood in South Philadelphia. Adjustment to the dramatically different lifestyle proves to be more difficult for Rocky Balboa Jr than it is for Rocky and Adrian. Junior quickly becomes involved with a bad crowd, and encounters a bully. Meanwhile, financially desperate Rocky is tempted to re-enter the ring when shady promoter George Washington Duke offers him a huge amount of money to defend his title. Adrian insists that Rocky not risk his life by returning to the ring. Rocky's financial future looks bleak, until he is approached by a young boxer named Tommy "Machine" Gunn, who idolizes Rocky and begs Rocky to help him train. Rocky agrees to train Tommy, but this hurts Rocky's relationship with Junior, who believes Rocky is neglecting him in favor of Tommy. Junior becomes even more deeply involved with the bad crowd that he has fallen into. Junior even undergoes training and beats up the bully who was harassing him. After Tommy wins his first few matches, he starts becoming arrogant. When Tommy, who wants a high profile match against a champion, arrogantly decides that Rocky is not moving him up quickly enough, an impatient Tommy turns his back on Rocky and hires Duke as his new manager. While this gives Rocky and Junior the chance they need to work things out with each other, Tommy wins a belt, and still doesn't have the respect that he's arrogantly looking for because fans always boo him. Duke tells Tommy that the only way to get the respect Tommy wants would be to beat Rocky one-on-one, so Duke and Tommy find Rocky at a bar, and Tommy challenges Rocky to a street fight that may put Rocky's life on the line.

Nope, not kidding. I DID however misspell "Karate Kicks" (is my love for Mr. Miyagi so great?)

Hey!
Star Trek V was a great addition to the Trek universe (assuming you only watch the first 10 and last 5 minutes of the film, of course).
Anyhow, I've seen all the Rocky's and thought 1 was fantastic. I even liked 2-3. Sure, they were tacked on and only made to bring in some money, but they did further the story a bit (the aftermath of the match in 2 and the loss of Mickey in 3, combined with the idea of a future without boxing).
4 sucked because it didn't really further the development of any of the characters.
5... was just horrible. Absolutely horrible.
I can't believe they're making another after that last one.

Screw that. I'm excited. Sly is hella buff again (for a 50ish guy or is he 60ish). Man if anyone can pull of a buffed out geriatric boxer, its Sly. Remember George Foreman when he came back for one last round? He kicked ass people! So Rocky can do it. He has the eye of the tiger, muthasuckas!

Wow, Rocky V sounds so bad that I feel like I need to see it now. If only they had done the marketing right so long ago... when did it come out? I can google now. Sorry to throw doubt donkey. I should have checked it out first.

Rocky V was 1990 I believe. Its smurfing amazing there is going to be a VI. Maybe if Arnold doesn't get re-elected there will be another Conan movie.
Some of these movies are actually worth seeing because they're actually so bad they're funny. Like Jingle all of the Way. Freaking hilarious.
Star Trek V sucked massively. It was sandwiched in between some absolute classic treks though, especially Undiscovered Country, my favorite.
Suck it, Trebeck!!

II, VI, and IV.
We definitely need a couple more VI-derived smilies.

Undiscovered is my favorite - but I also really like Kahn, The Motion Picture, Search for Spock, and Insurrection. First Contact is also good.
IV is OK - but the sound waves thing and space just really bothers me. It did have a Mac in it though.
