Wired recently had an article on MySpace.

Ug; I can't stand MySpace. Waaaay to cluttered and I can never figure out how to get anywhere; navigation is horrible. Facebook, on the other hand. . . Facebook is nice

Facebook:
-Unified layout, clean, streamlined

MySpace:
-God-awful HTML made by people with no design sense
-Unsolicited embedded movies and music that bog down even fast Net connections
-Unsolicited sleazy people and pictures (I go elsewhere for those.)

There.  You don't have to guess which one I favor.

Now, since this thread wasn't meant to compare the two, I'd like to know more about this server and hostname stuff.

Most people with enough taste to choose facebook over Myspace would also have enough taste that they wouldn't buy the kitchy and generic garbage that's sold at store like A&F or AE.

I like AE's non-destroyed, non-faded jeans.  And a few of their button down shirts aren't to bad if you have to go somewhere/do something that a tshirt won't suffice.

Or if you know someone at said school that'll let you install a mail server (temporarily) on their computer.

Actually, for just one account, all you need is a college email account.

Some universities allow access to your e-mail upon graduation, otherwise you just have to get the account made before you lose access to the address.

Huh? You mean on your campus network?

I told my friend about your trick on using the university domain and a mailserver, and he created some oompa loompas on facebook.

I changed my status to alumni even though I can no longer access Berkeley's email.  They let me keep my account.  I think you're just screwed Phy.
