Nothing wrong with it. What he said is not illegal. Not even what Ted Kennedy was saying today (blaming the US for the bombing in Jordan, while the Jordanians were blaming the terrorists), is illegal.

It seems to be an article of faith that when a conservative says something outrageous, the dittoheads simply say it's not illegal.
Is it moral, chum o' mine? Is it ethical? Is it the sort of thing a respected man of faith should be saying?

The pro-lifers have shut down all abortion clinics in Mississippi. Mississippi and Louisiana are full of god fearin' folk. Why then did I AM decide to smite them with not one, but two nasty hurricanes? And Kentucky and a tornado? Here in California, where domestic partnerships are legal and we just voted down a parental consent law, all we get is the occasional earthquake. And anyone suggesting that ID be taught in California schools would be laughed at. Massachusetts has same-sex marriage, as do Canada, the Netherlands and Belgium - not many catastrophes there yet.
Pat Robertson is a smurf.
It is an odd thing, but every one who disappears is said to be seen at San Francisco. It must be a delightful city, and possess all the attractions of the next world.

I don't think anyone is saying he doesn't have rights to his own opinions, or even implying that.
We're just pointing out that a prominent "Christian" leader with a lot of Christian followers and supporters is insane.

This is why respect for conservatism is plunging. Exactly this sort of talking points amorality.
And yeah, "both sides" engage in this sort of defense. My question is, how does that make it right?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with judgeing a movement by the leadership it allows to rise to power.
