So, I got one...

I just bought an Xbox yesterday, now the question is, can I use any USB keyboard or do I need additional connectors, and is it worth it? I also would like to add a mouse, I have controllers that's why I want to be able to play with a keyboard and mouse.

Re: So, I got one...

I hope you're not too disappointed, but I don't think you can get a keyboard *or* mouse for the XBox. I guess there's a chance they'll release a keyboard for Phantasy Star Online, unless they modify that game to use XBox Live's voice chat. I don't keep up with XBox stuff nearly as much as I keep up with the other consoles, so I'm not completely sure.

Good luck!

Re: So, I got one...

No mouse/keyboard support exists for Xbox, and probably won't.

But that's OK. I assume you want it for FPS like Halo. Well, Halo controls GREAT and now I actually prefer the Xbox ControlerS to mouse/keyboard, at least if the game controlls well.

My ecperience:

Halo: superb. the first console FPS to feel organic and natural, it's great to lob grenades and shoot without thinking about it, and aiming feels precise.
Serious Sam: I like the Xbox version better than the PC version, it feels like you are holding a gun when you play. And you can get the game for cheap.
Medal of Honor: No where near as crisp as Halo, I don't think the controls are very tuned. But still fun regardless.
TimeSplitters 2: I don't like the controls, I don't like how the gun moves.
Unreal Championship: Aiming isn't that precise, can't touch Halo in this respect, but way fun online.
Ghost Recon: The controls are crisp and responsive, you won't miss a mouse and keyboard much, if at all.

Anyway, I don't know if you want a mouse to play FPS, but just in case, I hope this is helpful. I also wanted a mouse/keyboard, but now I'm not so sure it's necessarily better. There are good things and bad things on both sides, I guess. A controller still isn't as precise as a mouse, but in most other respects I like it better.

Yeah, as a Mac user, I do my gaming mostly on consoles because I have machines with non-upgradable video cards and Mac games just aren't that optimized for PC ported games. I swear the PC versions almost always run better on comparable Windows hardware IMO. I buy Mac games sometimes, but mostly it is a bit hard to find what I like that will run reasonably well on my Ti667 DVI.

Anyway, when it comes to gaming, many Mac users use consoles too.
