I wish Apple made a scroll mouse
That didn't suck.
I've been using a puck-mouse (the 2nd revision with a ridge) for the past few months, and except for a scroll wheel and 2nd button, it's not bad. The tracking is nice and smooth.
I own a MS Bluetooth mouse (the first revision), which has HORRIBLE tracking. So bad that I never use it. I also have an IBM optical mouse (it's really a Kensington Mouse-in-a-box), which doesn't always work when I plug it in (it seems to be something weird in the way it powers up, it only reliably works when plugged in to this Dell laptop that was broken that a friend gave me that I fixed). But, when it does work, it's nice to have a second button and a scroll wheel, but the tracking is odd as well as less "smooth" than the puck mouse. I like the Mighty Mouse, I like the shape and form, and it has good tracking (from using it in the store), but I hate its right-click. I play games occasionally, and the limitation of not being able to right-click while your finger is resting on the left side makes gaming with this mouse impossible.
Apple could have easily used a myriad of different methods that wouldn't change the form of the Mighty Mouse, but allow it to right-click "properly".
I've been thinking about buying a new Logitech mouse, but my experience with the MS Bluetooth mouse has made me much more wary about investing in an expensive mouse I haven't used. I would hate to be stuck with a mouse that I couldn't adjust the tracking to be like Apple's mice.

Re: I wish Apple made a scroll mouse
I've ran the Mighty Mouse through heavy UT2004, WoW, and DOOM 3 sessions, and it performs just as well as any "conventional" two-button mouse I've ever owned (hence the Logitech MX310 sitting coiled up in a drawer while the Mighty Mouse gets all the use). Just takes a small degree of adaptation and coordination, which I reckon any gamer worth their salt has more than a speck of.

Agreed Mo. The right click was a major issue for me.

I just think the Mighty Mouse feels cheap.

Re: I wish Apple made a scroll mouse
I have been using one at work ever since they came out, and to me, it functions just exactly like every other 2-button scroll wheel mouse that I have on every other computer. I think the side buttons are useless. Now, for a regular 2 button mouse, it is about 2.5 x more expensive than the other ones I have. A little pricey, but I like the form factor and the fact that it is something different. Most people are not like me and should not get this mouse because the form coolness will not make up for the higher price.

Re: I wish Apple made a scroll mouse
I like Apple more than anyone, but I tried the MightyMouse at an Apple Store. I thought it sucked. Uncomfortable and awkward to use in every way. They could've made a conventional 2 button/scroll mouse that looked cool and worked very well. Sometimes Apple tries to be too "different" for there own good. At least in this case.
Oh well, hopefully it will evolve into something much better than it is now.

I've been using the same Belkin 5 button optical mouse w/ a wheel for 3 years. It cost me $8 on sale at Micro Center and it is awesome. Best mouse I've ever used.

Re: I wish Apple made a scroll mouse
The problem I have with the Mighty Mouse is the look. I loved the look (clear with black underneath and white apple logo) of the Pro mouse. I wish I could still find one. Anyway, for now I'm using a Microsoft Blue mouse. Very functional, looks ok, and is a familiar enough mouse for anyone who wants to use my computer. Also removes the "Oh my God, you have a MAC?! I don't know how to use THAT. How is the right click supposed to work?" And it just works. Good enough for me.
I would like to eventually invest in a Mighty Mouse once they make a visual revision of it. I'm surprised how well the scroll button works on it though. I tried it out at an Apple store and it's really nice.

Re: I wish Apple made a scroll mouse
I personally use a Kensington trackball, which has a nice scroll ring.
However, I bought my dad this two-button scroll wheel mouse, which he really likes.
It's not made by Apple, but it captures the aesthetic pretty well.

Re: I wish Apple made a scroll mouse
I've been using the Mighty Mouse that came with my new iMac for a week now, and I like it, although it's a little clacky.
I wasn't sure I could go back to a wired one, but with the addition of felt feet, I don't feel the need to break up the look of my setup with the old matte black/grey wireless mouse. All my other mice have scroll wheels, including an Intellimouse at work, and the scrolll ball has won me over. The wheels feel clunky now, unfortunate because I have still have to use one at work. Maybe iit will wear out, I don't know, but I'm ready for the wireless version when it comes out.
All my optical mice have felt feet - ever since I started using a Wacom tablet (the mouse has a felt bottom), I gotta have a soft bottom

I agree, my MX900 is quickly becoming one of the most favourite things I've ever owned.
Let's think about that for a minute.

It looks nice. Now all they need is a Bluetooth version.

Re: I wish Apple made a scroll mouse
Any know any good shiny white mice?
I have yet to find a multi-button mouse to match my iMac G5- except for the Mighty Mouse and "The Mouse" by MacMice.
Well, The Mighty Mouse is a bit finicky to me, and "The Mouse" despite being shiny and white at least, is a little ugly.
Are there any others that would match?

Re: I wish Apple made a scroll mouse
I have yet to experience an optical mouse that matches up to a good ball mouse on as big a range of surfaces. Then again I loved the puck so what do I know.
