Netgear ME101

I've a G4 and want to use a Netgear ME101 Wireless Bridge. I've it configured it to my network using my windows laptop from work. It connects and works fine on the laptop.
I've a dual G4 running 10.3.9 the Netgear ME101 is running version 2.0 firmware. I'm using a cross over cable to connect the netgear to the G4.
I've tried both DHCP and Manual IP address without any luck. (both work on the windows box).
I've tried straight and cross-over cables (only cross-over wrks on windows box).
I keep getting the 169.XXX.XXX.XXX Address on my G4.
I plug a cable into the G4 and the network card works fine. But the ME101 will not. I've checked the Netgear forums without any luck hoping someone can help here.

Re: Netgear ME101
does the me101 have status lights, does it come on when the cable is plugged in the G4?
Please Don't make my brain hurt, ask logical, thought out, and well worded questions.
