One time I was on the final lap of the final race with someone, and whoever won that race won the whole thing. I had three mushrooms, and my opponent had a blue shell. My plan was to pass him right before the finish line (before he can fire off the shell), and his plan was, obviously, to let me pass him earlier than that so he can hit me in time.
The hilarious part about it is, we both ended up coming to a complete stop maybe 5-10 seconds before the finish line, and we just sat there for at least a half minute.
