Mechwarrior
Hey all. I was just wondering if there was any possible way to get Mechwarrior 2: 31st Century Combat to work in classic mode. I just found the CD again, inside my old Powermac 6800, and I believe it was the only 'Mech title for Mac. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Mechwarrior
Does the Power Mac 6800 (?, you mean 6500?) still work?
The Win 95 version doesn't even work in Windows 98, I somehow doubt that the System 7 version will do all that hot in Classic mode.

Re: Mechwarrior
I ran it a few times in later systems on my Beige G3. Mostly I played my PS version at the time since I could never find the patch to get Mech2 to run in Rave or any 3D rendering. The official links to it on the company website seemed to never have it.

Re: Mechwarrior
It won't run in classic becuase of some quickdraw issue, if I remember correctly.
You either have to boot into OS 9 or use something other than classic.... like SheepShaver*.
* - I've heard SheepShaver works, but never tried it myself. I think it was confirmed for MW, at least...

Re: Mechwarrior
I believe MW requires System 7. It won't run in OS 9.
I tried to run it on my OS 9-booting G3 and was VERY dissapointed. I really wanted to see how it would run on that machine since I never finished the game. As a G3 won't run 7, I'll have to haul my old Performa out if I want to play it.

Re: Mechwarrior
FYI there's a Java port of the traditional Battletech miniatures board game on sourceforge that works with OS X. It's a multiplayer only game as far as i know however, and its pretty complex...but i've played a couple games with friends and its a fun time

I loved Battletech and Shadowrun growing up...FASA was a great company...too bad the Shadowrun license has been wasting away since that Sega Genesis game about 10 years ago. (A Shadowrun game is in development for Xbox 360, and depending on if its any good may force me to purchase one)
