Re: Canada's military power is 1/4 of the US's
So again, what was the point? I just wanted to know where he was going with his point.
Pretty much nothing after that... hence my first post in this thread... it's known, and I don't think we need to spend more on military (or as much as the US per capita)... I'd rather have our heath care system...
Not to be pissy or anything, but you've already made your point in that first post: you aren't interested. Where as I'm asking jkahless what HIS point was. Since he started the thread, I think it makes more sense to ask him.

I'm not interested in increased spending on military to try and "catch up" to the US per capita spending.

Wow, their about to raise their tuition about as much as it's going to cost me for my degree I'm going for... (just applied for the course)
You're going to get an entire degree for $1400? I'm impressed.
Well, there's JCs, state schools, and financial aid.... heck if you play your cards right people will pay you to go to school

Re: Canada's military power is 1/4 of the US's
tuition in california for a junior college is about $300 a year and $1800 for state university, and I get $6500 a year in grants, plus the U.S. Army college fund and G.I. bill, and a couple scholarships for my 3.8 GPA... I live OK as full time student.
As for military spending, I was in the army from 93-97 as an Airborne Infantry Scout and trained with many other nations such as Australia, S. Korea, Thailand, UK, etc. The difference is HUGE. Many nations can't afford to let their soldiers fire live rounds very often or participate in large coordinated exercises, very few have night vision, and their communications are easy to jam and/or intercept. The U.S. Army is the only 100% night capable military on earth, with a communiation system that's impossible to jam or locate because even your basic infantry man has a radio that changes frequencies 100 times per second. A US soldier not only has better equipment, but gets to train with it much more often.
Considering the USA is the wealthiest in the world, it should have the best army to defend it, and it should be no contest.
