I'm out
The past few months I haven't been able to play Halo with you guys or play period. When I can play no one is around. Digi and I have been trying to breathe new life into our "clan" lately but have repeatedly failed. We are both sick of it. I would try to hold out a bit longer but my disk recently kicked the bucket and I am not interested in forking out $30 right now. So this is my official resignation. I will be still hang around the forum and chat once and a while but I won't be playing for a long time. If and when my business kicks into high gear I may decide to buy Halo. Until then... well, it's been fun guys. I'll miss the good times.

Re: I'm out
When I called in my Time of Death thread way back when, you guys did a good job convincing me that that was more or less overstepping the situation. But though we did a few things, even though one or 2 of us were physically unable to join in a few games, that did not last for long. We both tried, that is true. The overall result, stuff comes up. The next week, next week, next week. I know I'm reiterating what Zander said. There is no schedule we can keep, or even like 2 we can keep. Whne I had free time before the ToD thread, I consistently got "Sorry, not right now" from just about every single one of you. One or 2 of you figured out that I had you all in my Contact list in Adium and systimatically went through the lot. Even three days ago, I mentioned to Icks, Hey, we are all online, why not play now. He opted out because he was getting 56K performance. What the hell do I play at, and jeap over there is even worse. He's opted out because somebody over there is dragging their feet with the new line that was supposed to be in. Its funny how when I have a little problem, I get a response back that entails to not holding up the trail for one car. We do that with everyone else around here.
Like Zander, I'm out as well, I'll still stick my head is, but when this forum gets hardly anything new like it used to and my checkins for anything new are more frequent than new content, I may just skip this altogether.
PS: I;m down with keeping the file server online and what not because I have a few things you guys may like, ie RvB in Hires if no one else is doing if, but ther is no incentive to play elsewhere but pubs.

Wanna know why our little private server got smurfed?
No. I'm not wanting to get into it. This isn't worth it.

Re: I'm out
I think a big problem is that Halo is starting to go the way of UT99. It has been out for several years already, and people are just not as fired up about playing it. I used to go on almost every night if I could, but lately, it has lost my interest. New games are out, and people are starting to play them more and Halo less. It happens to every game that is released. No game can hold everyone's interest forever.
PS- Why does one have to "resign" from our server? Why not just play elsewhere and hop on when someone is actually on our server? Why would you want to "burn your bridges" so to speak?

My own reasons for not being around much lately are pretty involved; even the cursory rundown I put up in the Officers' forum is not brief. Not going to recap it here; but story short, I don't expect it to last. We'll try to keep the home server lit for your return and Zander's soap in stock. Keep well, and hope for a Halo 2 Mac/PC announcement soon. It's more than possible, tho release would probably take awhile. We'll meet again.

Speaking of MA3?
I'm always open to suggestions. If someone has fresh ideas please share. It's not a big deal to put up new map rots, games and rules. Just don't expect it to happen in an hours notice.

Re: I'm out
lol, for the love of feces would ppl just call Macsoft and get free replacement discs for once
. Come on seriously, you do not need to buy a new CD. How many times do I have to tell ppl that
.
Even if Halo2 gets on PC, unless Havok is on Mac, we will never see it. Course I got a PC so that stuff wouldn't matter to me

About as many times as I have to remind folks that MacSoft's (MacSoft, Mac Halo publisher and one of Peter Tamte's Destineer group- you know, former Bungie/Apple Tamte) Al Schilling has said that when the right game came along, Havok would not be a problem. Especially given past relations, what righter game could there be for MacSoft ($!) than Halo 2?
Mac Halo 2 is not a given, but it's not unlikely.

Halo 2 Mac would be awesome...

It would also be CPU and/or GPU whore. Now the PowerMac Pentiums should be able to handle it if Apple builds a decent machine.

Re: I'm out
Not necessarily worse than Halo 1, tho. It's still an Xbox game, not a 360 game, DX9 has matured and is pretty well understood (Halo was only perhaps the second significant PS2.0 title out), and Bungie would be doing the Win version in-house. That code would be a good base for porting, and Mac OpenGL, tho still behind, is far ahead of where it was in Fall '03. Even with some enhancements, a Mac version should run OK unless Bungie/MGS really pushed some heavy graphic enhancements. Even then it would likely only affect Campaign mode.
