Re: This looks like something Fried Chicken would do!
Well, ok, I haven't really looked into that, partly because it doesn't affect my every day life, and partly because I don't know much about radiochemistry... I didn't even know it existed...
Actually, I have heard of a laser that works by creating Krypton fluoride by applying a lot of energy, then when the energy is taken away, the krypton fluoride breaks apart releasing a lot of light that can be used as laser light.

It's just the chemistry of all things radioactive. Anybody who's ever looked at a uranium decay chain has done a little radiochem. It's what I do in my daily life. When I'm not making geiger counters.

I haven't been that interested in radiation.... yet...
It just hasn't had an appeal with me.... yet...
But I do know my mom has some radiation at work that she uses to dye brains.

Yeah, I think that's the type of laser the US Gov. wanted to mount into turrets and use for missle defense. It would lock onto an incoming ICBM, point the Huge Fricking Laser at it, and detonate the warhead long before it reaches US soil. I think there were also plans to mount the whole thing into a 747 or something, with a focus/aiming array built into the nose tip. Zap.

Yeah! We want to ZAP those Ruskie ICBMs as they fly over the North Pole. That way they fall down somewhere where it doesn't matter...like...CANADA!

What kind of work does your mom do?
What is her most professional title? (Ask her.) This would be the thing with a lot of letters after her name.

PET. If she's dying brains with radiation, she's doing PET.

My brain's dying FROM radiation! (not really...I don't think so...?)
So, F.C., your mom been in this line of work long? Like, maybe, before you were born? That would clear-up a few questions...
(Just kidding, dude

My mom is a teacher/assistant professor, doing research, and teaching stuff abuot the brain. She's got 2 graduate students, and is also conducting research on the affects of nicotine on the developing brain.
She uses radiation as some sort of dye to light up certain parts of the brain.

Is it merely a coincidence that on the same page as the explosion and all there is an ad by the Department of Homeland Security telling you that you should have a disaster plan?

It is not a coincidence. Google scours the page for content, and places the ads that are appropriate for that content.
