Texas to remove Space Shuttle from license plates?
According to this article, there's talk in Texas of removing the image of the space shuttle from their state license plates. To quote the story:
The design is bound to touch a nerve with Texans after the space shuttle Columbia broke apart and fell to the earth, scattering debris across more than 100 miles. The design once was a pleasant reminder of the state's close ties to the aerospace industry. Now it is a far more poignant symbol that probably reminds many people of where they were and what they were doing on the morning of Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003.
After the collapse of the World Trade Center, we saw a similar rash of "re-editting," in which the image of the twin towers was digitally removed from movies, video games, and television shows. Is this the "right" thing to do following a national disaster, so as to not offend an emotionally scarred populous? Or is the need to erase any reference to such tradegies simply a knee-jerk example of political correctness gone wrong?

I think they should erase those too. And erase the launch pads. People apparently can't handle remebering tragedies.

What would make you think that I wasn't? Is your tin foil beanie loose or something?

Where is this story coming from? I live in Texas, and none of the plates I see has a shuttle on it. They all have Texas flags and a little silhouette of the state.

Heh, That's odd. Here's a pic of one, I assume it's the one in question. Come to think of it, not that I get to TX ever, but I've never seen this design of plate either.

It's angelfire, so it probably won't show inline.

Mine has the Space Shuttle. All of the newer ones (2001 on) have a little red Texas in the middle, a blue sky with a space shuttle, and a blue sihlouhette of a cowboy and some mesas on the bottom.

Just replace the image of the shuttle with a picture of the Wright Flyer. Since Ohio and North Carolina both claim to be the birthplace of flight, Texas could easily kick both their asses and take the title.
This is nothing like the WTC, and I can't imagine anyone being bothered by this.
