california gov. gray davis history ?
http://www.sacbee.com/content/politics/ … 4233c.html
It seems extreminst liberal democrat whack job gray davis( aka: casper the unfriendly ghost) might be on his way out. After single handedly tanking the california economy, and turning a $30 billion surplus into a $35 billion deficit virtually overnight, the voters decided they've had enough. Not even the teachers unions, which pretty much run the state with and iron fist, can save his sorry ass now. All this comes with the news that once again california's credit rating has been degraded:

The funny part is that the dnc still considers davis to be a top candidate for their 2004 presidential run.

Sort of reminds me of Bush, though Bush had more surplus to spend and has created more deficit.

Not being nasty here, but there never was a surplus. There was a false projected surplus. It didn't take into account SS.

How many "top candidates" or "leader of the democratic party" are there, anyway? It seems that any time you mention a democrat who does something bad or perceived as bad, you call him/her the top democrat in the country.
I still believe in liberalism today as much as I ever did, but, oh, there was a happy time when I believed in liberals.

Re: california gov. gray davis history ?
I hate to burst your bubble, but CA isn't the only state facing huge budget problems. Governors and state legislatures are going to have to make some decisions that may be unpopular in order to bring their budgets back into balance. Whether or not they can successfully oust him? I doubt it.
I didn't vote for him, but I would imagine that had someone else been elected, they would be struggling with what to cut/not cut and how to increase revenue. You can't please everyone.

Liberal? I wouldn't necessarily classify Davis actions as liberal. He has to do more then let us smoke pot if he want's to be classified as "liberal."
He's been bailing out corporations, supporting privatization, cutting back government funding to public programs, etc. Historically, these are all things that us "liberals" hate. This stuff is typically associated with republican, or "conservative", elected officials. (aka our president)
And since when did the teachers unions start running the state? Have you ever been a teacher? ... I have. Corporate donations and other private interests have much more of an effect on the state government and government institutions then something such as the CTA. Shess, if teachers unions ran the state then I wouldn't know professors with multiple doctorates teaching at multiple universes in packed classrooms just to make ends meet.
If Davis wasn't such a whore, he be pushing for a self-sufficient Californian state government. We could start with state controlled public power... we know for a fact that public power works in other countries.

Maybe cause they know they're not going to win.
But on a serious note, Gray Davis is one of the reasons I don't consider myself a Democrat. Tom Daschle is the other one.
Personally, I think the Dems should put some poor sap in for 2004, and then run Al Sharpton in 2008. Then run me in 2020.
