General World Political Chaos
The UN Security Council is voting 3-2 against Bush's war. Now, I don't think France really is indicitive of anything, but why dismiss China and Russia's vote?
On a side note, I just read that France and Germany and Belgium don't want NATO to defend Turkey in the event of a US war on Iraq. Don't that just suck?
This sabre-rattling that Bush is doing in the Persian Gulf is not only having little affect on Iraq, but it's tearing at the fibers that bind the UN, and NATO. And, it's certainl causing its share of rifts right here in ze h

Or lack thereof. Meh. Bush is the one rattling the saber now, if he could do better than whatever it is that you are accusing slick Willie of, then I suppose the world would be more in agreement now, wouldn't they?

I don't expect World War III to happen anytime soon, though I suppose terrorist threats could continue to grow.
The chief danger of all this Iraq nonsense, in my view, is the dissention between the US and its allies could have major reprucussions internationally. For the past 50 or 60 years, the West has generally spoken with one voice. If that united front dissolves, you could have international chaos.
Militarily, some countries could feel allowed to attack their neighbors (the India-Pakistan dispute is a particular worry here, not to mention China-Taiwan and the two Koreas). But it could also fracture international organizations like the UN and the WTO.
A major international split could set the world back decades, to the bad old Darwinian dog-eat-dog age of endlessly squabbling nations. That's my #1 fear.

What the hell do Clinton's military "adventures" have to do with what Bush is doing now? For all the fact that conservative sheep say Clinton is irrelevent and old news, you guys sure do bleat about him a lot.

My thoughts are as Northwind stated. Bleating about Bush is relevant as he is the one to put us into an unwanted war. Clinton is old news, albeit I miss his sophomoric sexual antics. But I guess the political blame game continues while Bush plays his game of Risk.

We've already been fighting a war with the EU in the WTO. I've suspected that is one of the reasons for France's attitudes among others. The current problems with the EU are much bigger than a war in Iraq. It's just bringing things to a head. That is not necessarily a bad thing either.
Minithink isn't a "to the death" cage match.

clinton is old news, but since he's so good at helping Republicans win elections, I like having him around. Hell, betwixt bill and his husband hillary, damn near half of congress is Republican.
