That was great, kinda quick though, even for a rap.

Re: Time 4 Bed
That's great. Can I ask what the video technique is to get that visual style? I can't describe it but I see it in a lot of music videos (specifically, hip-hop). I think it has to do with the frame rate. The scene where Nick flashes the items by his head is so visually enticing but I don't know why. You never get that effect on a talk show or the news. So what it is?

Well, if you watched the mainpage video, it's a flash file, so the frame rate may have been altered. I didn't add any special effects other than some color correction. Try downloading the MPEG-4 version, and see if that's any different. Also, the video was shot on a Canon XL-1S, so the quality is a step up from a regular video camera.

Re: Time 4 Bed
When I click the link for MPEG-4 it saves as a TXT file. Is that supposed to happen?

That means that they don't have the correct MIME type on their server. Just save it and take off the .txt Safari insists on appending, and it will be fine

Yes. Modify the httpd.conf file if you have access to that, or specify it in a .htaccess file (save on your computer as htaccess, then rename it on the server after uploading because the period at the beginning, which is required, will make the file invisible). Do a Google search for more details.

Bonka, how did you make the music? Could you tutor me? I am making a similar hip-hop parody about college.

Re: Time 4 Bed
Does anyone else understand my frames observation? It doesn't look like "real life" in the segment where he's holding up the marshmallows. But the other segments are fluid and lifelike.

ok, ok, i think i see what you're talking about, where the marshmallows are raining next to his head, and he's all happy. right? ok. I, in my i-have-no-clue-what's-going-on film student status, declare that it may have a slightly lower frame rate, though it didn't look like it, and the fact that it stands out is cause the music/singing is still going, and with the whole rest of the hot chocolate scene, it may stand out because it is shown from different angles... of course by now i forget what it looked like, so i dunno.
Now my question: the toothbrush bit: was it filmed in a mirror is that your hand waving in front of the camera just real briefly? otherwise, can't really tell it's there.
Excellent work Bonka!

Re: Time 4 Bed
I used Final Cut Pro. If you're wondering about the scene where the marshmallows fall, I slowed down the clip by about 50 percent, so that may be why it seems surreal. TheOipedOne, good eye! I was shooting Nick in the mirror, and when he gestures his hand forward, just a for a millisecond, you can see his "real" hand come into frame.
I appreciate all the positive feedback everyone. I'm glad people enjoy it.

Re: Time 4 Bed
Fifty percent? The audio doesn't seem to slow down, though, and it stays in-synch. What's up with that? Also, I am trying to make a similar rap video which will be like a fusion between Time 4 Bed and Lazy Sunday. Any video filming/editing tips?

Re: Time 4 Bed
Well, first of all, the audio is separate from the video, so when I write "slowed the video down" it means just the video, not the audio. A program like Final Cut is great for fine tuning video clips. If you plan on using iMovie for editing, it will be a much more tedious process, trust me, I've done it before!
As for editing tips, here's my method. Edit for performance first. Try to get the best clips of the acting for the first edit. Then, go back and finetune the edit for timing. Music videos are fun because you can edit to the beat. Also, for music videos, you want to edit much more than you would for a dramatic scene, so keep it interesting with lots of cuts. Good lighting is key a well.
Hope that helps!
