I believe in god, but god doesn't believe in me.

Re: Anyone here believe in God?
I believe that western religion developed they way that knobtwirler said, if people don't understand something, they try to fill in the gaps. It gives them a purpose in life.
So no, I don;t believe in a god.
If I did, it wouldn't be in the same way that everyone else does. I don't tend to worship seemingly omnipotent beings that just try to force themselves on me. In my book, thats called a tyrant.
I believe in Jesus though. Is that weird?

Speaking of Jesus, I think the second coming of christ will be caused by the cloning of the DNA on the shroud of turin.

Could they get self-cloning clones if they create 2 groups of clones, one with all of the left chromosomes, one with all of the right chromosomes (the and make sure the ones with 2 Y chromosomes get one replaced with an X chromosome) and have them reproduce? Of course, you would also get "clones" that are exactly the same, but opposite sex. (only work with males, though

What I would do is just make a chromosome-inverted clone of myself.

It certainly cuts the time out of finding "the one." (since you definitely have a lot in common!)

Nope. Since you asked, my present state of awareness has been telling me that the notion of a God has come from early development stages of man, where he felt overpowered by unexplainable natural forces. Eventually people realized they could propagate this notion of ultimate fear by creating religion to control masses of people for various reasons, one of them being to advance civilization as a whole. Now that we have so many different religions that all seem similar in general construct, and this construct was man's own construct, masses of people all over the world still blindly follow their respective born-into religions and actually fight over them, and won't let go because it all seems to make so much sense. The most telling notion of there being no God is that these things are left to go on without God's noticeable intervention, and most of what religious people do is not what they preach nor what this so called God would have intended. So no.
Ditto.
Yeah, I know I skipped half of the topic.

On a more serious note, imagine how much we'd learn about the difference between the sexes if we had 2 clones, where the only difference was one of them had the Y chromosome swapped with an X chromosome.

Really though. I don't believe in one set god. I don't think there is one man sitting in the sky watching all of us. Come on, that's just crazy. I do believe in higher powers, divine intervention, angels, evil spirits, and other cosmic forces that may be associated with religion.

Re: Anyone here believe in God?
I believe in a higher power, but I don't believe in organized religion. I used to rail against people who threw themselves blindly into their faith, but having lost my mother earlier this year, I've come to realize that for some people it brings comfort in times of stress and sadness, so it can't be all bad.
That being said, I really hate the churchies that my mom used to hang out with before she passed away. Hardly any of them visited her when she was in the hospital for 9 months, but they came in droves once her suffering was over, organizing novenas and trying to horn in on the funeral arrangements -- they were beside themselves when they found out that a) she was being cremated, and b) there would be no gathering at the crematorium after the funeral mass. It was all a big circus for them, trying to outdo who loved her more when they completely ignored her while she was alive. Hypocrites.
Anyhoo, carry on.

I believe that no human could possibly know whether or not a creator exists nor what the nature of that creator is, if it exists.
