I need to upgrade my G4. Help!
Hello folks. I'm new here. I have a Power Mac G4 with 256 RAM, 400 Mhz and it runs on OS 9.04.
I want to upgrade it to 9.2 and then get X. I've went to Apple's site looking for where I can download 9.1, 9.2 and I can't find those OS. I know that I'll need 9.1 before I can install 9.2 etc..
Does anyone have a link to them?

Upgrade to at least 512MB, or preferably a gig of RAM before you do anything.

I've upgraded it to 9.0.2 and now have 812 gigs of Ram. Would I be able to upgrade to X with this?
Also I can't get flash clips to play despite downloading it. Where can I get flash player for my OS? I know it worked before..

You can run Mac OS X with that, 10.3 or 10.4 should be ok. Good luck

You MUST upgrade the firmware or risk hosing the Mac.
Upgrade to 9.2.1 and then do a firmware upgrade.

I have upgraded it to OS 9.2.2 and have 832 MB of Ram in it.
Update: I've just upgraded the firmware to 4.2.8. Where can I download OS X 10.3 or 4?

How big is the hard drive? I am thinking if your G4 still has the OEM HDD that You likely won't have room for OSX.

Under System profiler it says:
Startup device: ATA Hard Drive
Disk Cache: 8160K
Memory: 832 MB
Hardware Overview: Processor info: PowerPC G4
Machine speed 400 MHz
Is that good enough for 10? I'll still use this computer even through I recently got a iMac with OS 10.5.6
Where can i download 10.2 or 3?

The version you need for OS 10.2 and 10.3 starts with an install disk. There's no legal download for all of 10.2 (10.2.8) or 10.3 (10.3.9). After you buy 10.3, for example, you can then download the Combo Update for 10.3.9. (actually, you can download the updates now).
10.2.8, 10.3.9 and 10.4.11 will all run adequately on a 400 Mhz machine.
IMPORTANT NOTE as mentioned above last year: before installing OS X, there may be a "firmware" update that is needed. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120068 Read the directions carefully (simple but important).
