How often does safari unexpectedly quit?
Never? Rarely? Once a month? Once a day? Five times a day? Ten times a day? More?

It used to be like once a month. Seems to have toned down lately though. Maybe bi-monthly? It's easily the most unstable program I run too.

only occasionally for me (once every month maybe) - but thats fairly repeatable: just try to load an .avi in a browser window - the quicktime plugin chokes and takes Safari with it.
As for safari itself crashing (when not brought down by quicktime) well - just about never (unless its my whole computer freezing - stupid processor overheating grrrr)

It hasn't crashed on me for a long time, I don't remember when. (well, this is excluding the fact that when I was listening to something online and started up Audacity for an assignment, which completely destroys the system sound context, Safari froze)

My experience is pretty consistent with every rare answer in here. When it does crash it's usually on site that's iffy on any of my available browsers.

Safari doesn't crash on me however I get errors when trying to upload to any photo sharing sites like Photobucket and Flickr. I installed Tiger a month ago. Also Safari doesn't render gifs properly as well. I pretty much use Firefox as my main browser.

Thanks. Just curious to see how out of whack mine is. I average about 15-20x a day.

yeah - thats not normal - I'd do the usual (repair permissions, repair disk) - try "resetting" safari (may need to enable the Debug menu to get at that command - can't recall and I'm on a PC right now).
Do any other programs crash like that?

Yeah, I've been struggling lately. I've done the software fixes including a clean install. I'm gonna run AHT/ASD when I get a chance, some of them seem hardware-y.

I'd say either A)screwed up install of Tiger B)failing ram C) somethings overheating.

Depends on what kind of page I'm viewing and what plugins I'm using. A few pages with javascript crashed it many moons ago. Recently, when I tried to view some page that had a real player streaming moview, it crashed. sometime ago, when I enabled SafariStand's Site Alteration, it crashed everytime I tried to load the related pages.

Hmm... I've been using the WebKit nightly Safari build a bit over the last couple of days it doesn't seem to be crashing...

When Apple releases a patch and I forget to adjust PithHelmet's info.plist file. But that isn't 100% reliable - some of Apple's patches don't break PH.
Patience is a virtue of the weak for it makes them stand still long enough for the strong to crush them with ease.

When I visit certain really horribly coded/CPU intensive Myspaces, Safari's sure to crash.
I mean seriously, forget the ACID test, if you want to test a browser's ability to render incorrect CSS, point it to a random Myspace.
A signature is a small piece of text that is attached to your posts. In it, you can enter just about anything you like.

I would use Firefox, but I really like the way Safari looks.
