Sexism is at the root of homophobia much of the time. How common an expression is is irrelevant, unless we're comparing that commonness with the fact that homophobic expressions like "that's so gay" are extremely common. In fact, homophobic expressions of disgust are the most common expressions in our nation's schools.

How is it "sexist" to tell a guy to "be a man"?  Heteronormative, sure, but sexist?

I got into this issue with Registered User, who posted abusive things like "man up you sissy little queen". Icarus Fountain said I'm a "drama queen" and "one of those people who give...homosexuals...a bad name". Clearly, the "be man", "man up", "sissy", and "queen" are all sexist/homophobic expressions, either one, the other, or both.

Oh, who cares?  This thread is on page 11 and it's been all over the place already.

Yes, I do have a problem with it being discussed here - that's here in this thread, which already has a topic of its own.  To wit, I suggested that if he needs to discuss such terms he can start another thread but please leave this topic on its pre-existing course.

Which at this point seems really less than likely.

Most threads over a few pages wander off-topic.
