What's your prefered setup?

I am looking into upgrading from my Powerbook G4 Titanium. I was looking into getting a tower and a display, a mactel powermac or just a display and upgrading the ram on my powerbook a keyboard and tablet.

I use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-Design.

What's your set-up like and what do you use it for?

My main app is Photoshop and my set-up is a 22in main screen and a 17in secondary screen for pallets and stuff.
You can never have too much screen real-estate for Adobe stuff.
Im probly gonna be getting another 22in soon then it will be 2x 22in and the 17in.

Re: What's your prefered setup?

Before purchasing a new computer, look into MacWorld's bench tests.
Or MacAddict, if they did any.
Secondly, determine if there are any software problems or hardware with using a MacIntel.
Software:  Determine if the software you own is compatible for a MacIntel machine.
Some software manufacturers may offer free downloads.
Others may charge.  Apple from one article indicated there will be a $49 charge for Apple Software to work on an Intel.  Look up the program: Rossetta.
I have been using Macs since 1988 (My brother's Franklin) was a Mac.
I have had problems with several models.
The IMAC I owned went dead.  When I looked up the reason, it appeared it was a common problem with the picture tube.
My emac for one week went dead, last week.  I was getting a Raster Effect.
However I solved the problem myself.
With the Intel Mac, I would recommend waiting a while to determine if any
problems turn up, and also which way the software manufacturers are going to go.
A part of my computer is for Chess, SigmaChess with Hiarcs10 and Shredder, (the strongest chess program in the World).  Before I switch
I have to ask the programmers for Sigma, Hiarcs, and Shredder when software replacements will come out.
Which has to be true for all software.

EDIT:  The $49 fee is only for Logic.  Aperture is going to be free (I think at one point it was going to also be $49) and the Final Cut Studio is starting at $99 for upgrades, and I think something less for just a disc swap.

I'm still trying to figure out if you're a girl posing as Macboy4139, or a boy posing as a girl, and a bit confused sexually. <shrug> laughinol

If money was no object...
Then I would have a Dual Dual Core G5 with 8 gigs of RAM and two 500GB HDs and two 30 inchers. And now you can get it for the low low price of $60 a day for a year!
