My news
It's been awhile since I poked my head in here since I've been living in a cave for so long. I've been studying for the academic decathlon competition; we just had our state competition last weekend, and my team won first place! California is the toughest state in the nation, and to beat our closest competitor by 1800 points (the overall score is out of 60K, and 1800 is an awesome margin) was absolutely amazing. We will go on to represent our state next month at the national competition which will be held in San Antonio, Texas. I'm hoping to see a few friendly faces there (Og, fizzwinkus, j_tso, et al). Wish us luck! We're dominating the closest team by 4000 points; I hope it stays that way.
HI MAF!

Hi Peach!
I did notice that you weren't around for awhile, so it's nice that you popped in here.
Congrats on 1st place in the competition!

I am glad to see that I am not the only person who was asking himself, "Hey, depeachmood hasn't been here for a while." I was feeling creepy.
And again, congrats.
I love the powerglove. It's so bad.

Re: My news
Thanks! It's starting to hit me now as we do interviews with papers and radio stuff; I was on NPR the other day. I missed you guys, and I hope to rejoin your ranks once we have a national title under our belts!

Yeah, I'm still kicking myself for not going back and correcting that. Of all the segments of the interview (which lasted over a half hour, actually), they had to pick out the one response where I used a made up word! Murphy's Law, maybe. Oh well! The segments of me on TV displayed a very emotional peach; needless to say, the whole crying thing isn't very attractive. I'm glad those aren't online, haha.

What are the sports in the acedemic decathlon? This is the first time I've heard of it.

Sports? Haha.
The ten events are the following: art, economics, essay, interview, language and literature, math, music, science, social science, and speech. Each year the curriculum centers around one theme; this year, we are studying the Renaissance. Next year is based on the People's Republic of China. Additionally, one topic of the curriculum is designated to be the "super quiz" topic which basically means that that area will not include any independent research topics and will form the basis of the event most like a quiz show where students are arranged in an arena and have to answer questions on the spot. I have trouble maintaining coherence as the hours of the day drag on, but I think get kind of get the gist of it. Wikipedia has a fairly good article about the competition, actually, if you're interested.

Hey! Peach is back!
Congrats on the competition.
Oh and try to see if you can find Fried Chicken down in Tex. Don't get too close to his house though.

Pretty impressive, and in alphabolical order, too.
I wish you every success in the competition.
(I'd wish you luck, but you should win it on your ability instead!)
