Gum?
I just dropped $10 on various kinds of chewing gum at Target yesterday. I chew because it helps ease my almost constant headaches and takes the edge off my smoker's breath. My favorites are Orbit bubblemint and those Koolerz, and anything peppermint for when my stomach isn't feeling great. I also learned recently that xylitol, which has a particular fruit sugar in it actually eats the bacteria which causes ear infections in children. My 2 year old had chronic ones that wouldn't respond to antibiotics and they were leaning toward putting tubes in. I handed him several pieces a day and at the next dr. visit his ears were clear. Awesome.
So, what kind of gum do you people chew?

but eclipse is incredible. sugarfree (yay!) and gets rid of the worst breath while you're chewing it. its all i've been chewing (gum-wise) for the past 3 or 4 years.

Re: Gum?
I think that lemon ice eclipse stuff is the worst. I get the distinct impression that I might as well be chewing a can of Pledge.

Re: Gum?
No offense, but I can't take people seriously that chew gum. I don't think I'm alone in that - perhaps its a British thing. I know several friends who aren't allowed gum/mints/sweets etc at work. Once, when my friend had a really bad cold and had trooped into work, her manager said "why don't you go around the back, and have a cough sweet?" I mean, heaven forbid a member of the public should see her masticating at the counter! Good grief!! How common!!
I don't like gum mainly because of the delinquents that chew it with their gobs open and then leave it strewn on the street. I prefer Tic Tacs, though I don't like the way they rattle quite so loudly!!
Oh, and cinnamon gum - wow, that sounds really gruesome

Ah yes . . . I don't believe gum chewing is as frowned upon in the U.S.

Re: Gum?
My mom used to tell me that gum chewing was un-ladylike. This is also the woman who told me never to take bites FROM the bread, but to tear off pieces and eat them instead. I tend to chew gum in my car for the most part, but I spend most of my time there so it's a moot point.

Me too, although I don't spend much time there, after a cup of coffee, or after a meal on the road, I must have a piece.
I've pretty much settled on Altoids, I buy 'em by the box at Costco. I can't bear to throw away the tins - I gotta figure out something to do with 'em all. Maybe a giant windchime or a metallic curtain.

Re: Gum?
I chew gum all the time, usually Wrigley's Extra Peppermint Whitening pellets. Not for the whitening, just because they're the flavour I prefer.

Re: Gum?
The sour Altoids gum is horrid. Guess that's why it had the orange tag of death at Target.

It's a prohibited import in Singapore. The Customs people will confiscate it and fine you.
