Sign of the Apocalypse?

Sorry, I'm having a total geek moment here.

Using Parallels Workstation, I'm running Ubuntu Linux, Fedora Core 4 linux, Windows XP and Mac OS X Tiger at the same time on my Intel-based MacBook Pro.

sorry but that image is a bit to wide their scale them a bit before posting them inline. -Sci

And they run pretty fast too. Here's a test I did comparing Ubuntu on a 3ghz PC, Ubuntu on an Intel-based MacBook Pro, Mac OS X Jaguar and Tiger on a dual 1 ghz G4 and Mac OS X Tiger on the MacBook Pro:

(Please note this isn't a benchmark and it's not determining whether one computer is better than another).

I's the Four Horsemen!

OSX --- War
XP --- AntiChrist
Fedora --- Death
Ubuntu --- Famine

It's all so clear, now! smile big_smile wink

Didn't Apple sell Windows before with the DOS compatibility card for the first Power Mac series?

Yeah, I'm going to try SuSe next. Problem is, I only have the stock 1 gig of RAM that comes with the MacBook Pro, so I'm quickly running out of room just to boot the distros.
Also, some of them boot faster than others, so it's getting more difficult to get a screen grab of all of them booting (note the Fedora screen has already booted to the login screen.

Just geekin' out. smile

The phrase "Sign of the Apocalypse" is commonly used when "odd" or otherwise "abnormal" events take place. Often this is an event associated with 2 enemies or competitors working together.

In this case, it is unusual that a single OS (Mac OS X) can also boot and sustain multiple Operating Systems on top of it at the same time.

Damn, I butchered that statement. Then again, I never was a morning person. Anyways, cool and thanks, most people just leave it as a link when I point that out rather than taking the time to scale.

Ok, that's way too cool!

Why get a PC and run windows, when you can get a Mac and run Unix, X-Windows,OS-X, Windows-XP, Windows 9X and Linux!

Heh, first time I've seen HTML tags used as an editorial expression.

Based on the findings of the report, my conclusion was that this idea was not a practical deterrent for reasons which at this moment must be all too obvious.

Virtual PC also exists for Windows, for running multiple x86 OSes. I don't know how well it runs, but it wouldn't have to emulate a completely different processor.

The most surprising thing (to me at least) is that native graphics are still not supported.

Is Virtual PC as slow as it once was, even with the advent of Intel based Macs?

Re: Sign of the Apocalypse?

You don't need VPC, because there's Parallels Workstation and Boot Camp.
Once again arriving back at the original point of this thread.

Re: Sign of the Apocalypse?

Then how well does "Parallels Workstation" compare to "Virtual PC's" performance? and also how does it compare to PC hardware?
