Cripes...

Ok, this probably should go into the rant room, but still it's political based.

What the hell is it with the "gates"...

Watergate
Luinskigate
Oilgate
IraqGate
etc...
etc...
etc...

The word gate in this use is so overly used that it is starting to loose its purpose just like the word Hero...

Right after 9/11 the word Hero was used in everything... now it seems that every time something happens to a politician or a high ranking official you get the word "Gate" behind it...

Sometimes I wonder how these people ever graduated college... they seem to copy everyone's paper to make a story now. This is a Parrot Syndrome, something that one person says or does everyone else says or does it...

I'd like some originality when reading the news or listening to it.

Why spend energy coming up with new ideas when you can just copy someone's old ones?

Well it was something that made the country great at one time, I don't know... perhaps that I'd like to think that someone that gets paid to write/report the news can come up with something at least semi-creative when it comes to a subject title.

The last one that actually was a good play on words was this

Cliche's are useful when you have a public as apathetic and simple minded as we have here.
Just like with politicians, we get the news coverage we ask for and we like stupid and simple it seems.

Re: Cripes...

Luinskigate ?  Speeling peoples' names phonetically now ?  Maybe she's related to the Ubama that Resedit knows.

Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.  Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet."  They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

Re: Cripes...

Well in the First Gulf War, I remember at least one member of the press who incorrectly identified an infantry squad as a squadron.

Hmmm, let's see instead of 8 to 10 men, he was talking about over 400. Seems a reasonable mistake to me.

Squadron is either a cavalry designation or an Air Force unit designation (also include naval air and marine air, as well as army aviation. Same approximate unit).

If the population was more informed, and more capable of understanding what is wrong with the world, and the US as a whole, we wouldn't be having the problems we are now. We wouldn't have grand standing like Sharpton, and the rest feeding off the people... corrupting the people, and destroying what they are attempting to say they are wanting.

The population of the US are mindless sheep that either won't or refuse to think for themselves. The news doesn't help at all, we as a people have become desensitized to atrocities, scams, and wrong doings.  We hear them, we roll our eyes, and look the other way, or blame everyone else but the people who should be blamed. The problem is that we don't do anything about it. We bitch, moan and complain, but to only the people who agree with you... and to those who can't make a difference. The sooner this country smartens up the better off it will be.

Politicians are notorious for this, look at the latest things they are saying.  "Bush is responsible for the gas hikes." The news is reporting it as facts, the problem is they don't take into account of China and India requiring more oil than they ever have. I've already done my study on where the money is going, yet everyone else wants to blame Bush because he is the easier target.

News as a whole is corrupt just as much, if not more so than the government, they aren't stupid, they just expect everyone else to be, so they can publish partisan garbage that everyone can read and eat up like candy, and not even for once question it. So far it seems to be working quite well.

I wish to be informed myself, the problem is that I can't seem to find one place that isn't biased one way or another, so I never get the true story... which I would rather have myself.

News as a whole is corrupt just as much, if not more so than the government

So:  Sharpton is causing what kind of corruption?  Like Duke Cunningham type corruption ?

The population of the US are apathetic, so the anti-war rallies in 2003 and the rallies happening today about immigration reform are evidence of that ?

Please show me where the MSM is reporting as fact that "Bush is responsible for the gas hikes."

I'd love to see more of your study on "where the money is going."

How is the news "corrupt" ?  You keep using that word.  I don't think that word means what you think it means.

No, but journalists have been using names ending in -gate for political scandals for the past thirty years. It's not new.
